Chapter 18~ Bug, Bludger, and Bad Feelings

“So how far are you guys on Snape’s essay?”  Anna asked George and me while we were sitting in the library.

“Not very far-ACHOO!”  I sneezed rather loudly, earning a few ‘Shh’ from the Ravenclaw students sitting at the table next to us.  “Sorry.”  I whispered in their direction.

“Seriously Izzy, are you okay?”  Anna asked me.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine Anna, just a bit of a-a-ACHOO!”  I sneezed once again.  “Cold.”

Anna and George both gave me looks that loosely translated into ‘Yeah, right.’

“You’re sick.”  Anna stated.

“I am not!”  I protested, earning more glares from the Ravenclaws.

“Izzy, face it, you probably are.  Oliver had us all freezing and soaking wet a few days ago after practice.  Just go and get checked by Madam Pomfery.”  George said.

“Nope, the Izzy Thompson does not get sick.”

“You’re sick.”  Madam Pomfery said to me as I sat on one of the Hospital beds in the infirmary.

“It’s just a cold, right?”

“Sadly, it looks like you have the Dragon Flu.”  I groaned in response.  “It looks like you will be spending the next few days in here.”  She said and I let out another groan.

“Will I still be able to play in the Quidditch match on Saturday?”  I asked hopefully.  It would be our first game of the year against Slytherin and I knew the team would need me there.

She thought about it for a while before responding.  “I’m not sure, only if you make some miraculous recovery, but as of right now, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.”  I groaned again.  This would not be good.

“What? ‘Enemies of the heir beware’?  Is that some type of sick joke?”  I exclaimed.  I had spent Halloween in the Hospital Wing and apparently, Flinch’s cat was petrified and someone left a message on the wall, written in blood.

“I just don’t understand who would do something like that.”  Anna sighed, sitting at the foot of my bed.

“Someone with a sick mind, that’s who!”  I dead panned.

“Yeah, but I thought it was all a myth, the Chamber of Secrets thing.”

“Who knows, even with the Marauder’s map, we’ve still found other secret passage ways that aren’t on the map.  It’s almost as if the Castle is constantly changing.”

“I really wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.”  Anna sighed.

“How’s everybody taking it?”  I asked her.

“All the teachers are still saying it’s a myth, Flinch is blaming Peeves, all the Slytherins are thrilled, the Ravenclaws are researching, the Hufflepuffs are all too nervous to leave their Common Rooms except for classes, and I guess Gryffindor house is hanging in there.”  Anna said, counting all of them off on her fingers.

“So the whole school is falling apart at the seams?”  I asked again.

She paused for a moment and thought about it.  “Pretty much.”
