"It's thanksgivin', are ya comin'?" My big brudda Travis asked. He know I'm not wantin in New Orleans, so I don't know why he ask these dumb ass questions every holiday.

"Nah man and you know dat shit!" I cussed him out. "Woah na' Aug, don't pipe up on me!" He spat back. "Man whateva Trav ya'know mama don't want my ass no where near her." Yeah that shit hurt to say, I try everything in my power to impress this lady but nothin' works.

"Yea she said that Aug, but she ain't mean it. She wants you here jus' like the rest of us do. Mel wants you here, the girls. All they ask fo' is their Unc Aug. Jus' come home Yungin'." I shook my head. "I can't Trav it ain't that easy. I love y'all bro I do, but shit is hard." I held my tears in. I ain't no pussy imma hold my shit straight.

"Whateva' Aug." he said before hangin' up. I don't know why he tries every year. He been tryin' this shit fo' three years. I'm glad he still got faith in a young nigga. But if the nigga don't wanna change himself don't help period.

Travis know damn well he's the only one and probably my nieces that want me back home. Last time I been there Mel and I fought, like a bloody ass battle fight. Then my step pops tried to break it up knowin' I ain't like him. All the anger from fightin' my brudda turned into me fightin' him. Mama was mad I fought her two babies so she kicked my lil ass to the curb and told me not to come back.

I tried fo' a good year, but they changed all their numbers after I left except Travis. Since they excluded me from their family I said fuck em. All of them got the name LaBranch, but me so ion even care.

It's finally Thanksgiving I can eat the whole farm,  but I gotta cook it first. Yes I said I gotta cook it first ain't that boutta -

"Lani what's taking so long?" Aiden walked through the front door whining. "Do you wanna cook?" I asked taking the potatoes off the stoves and replacing it with corn.

"Nope, take your time." He grabbed a water bottle from the refrigerator. "Where you coming from all sweaty?"

"Uhh I have a basketball in my hand." He said in a duhh tone. I smacked my lips. "Get out." Dad came down the steps smiling. "Wassup pops." Aiden said before drinking from his bottle. Dad looked at him then mugged. "Nigga you gay." I rolled my eyes laughing.

"Somebody been watching Boondocks." He nodded. "That's right that's right. Y'all niggas don't know nothing bout that, too young." I squinted my eyes like what?

"Not too long ago you said I was too old. " he smacked his lips. "You know what I meant smart ass."

"Look though, imma be gone for a couple hours, then I'm bringing somebody over so have dinner ready." He kissed my cheek then left out. "Aiden can you call Joi she supposed to be making these mashed potatoes and pie." He nodded.

Dinner was finally done. Even though I tasted so much as I cooked I wanted a full plate of it. I probably wouldn't finish, but at least I'll eat something. I made Fried turkey, ham, dressing, green beans, mac and cheese, and corn. While Joi made mashed potatoes and a sweet potatoes pie.

"Can we just dig in?" Ava rolled her eyes. "No we have to wait for your father." Mom said looking at the clock. "Mom the food is already out on the table come on." Aiden said reaching for a Hawaiian roll. "Boy stop. Instead of trying to eat, introduce me to the lovely lady at the table." Mama smacked his hand and smiled at a giggling Sydney.
