I held onto Zak's hand tightly, my eyes not leaving his face for a second. My head was a mess as I stressed out watching him in the hospital bed.

"When you wake up, you are in so much trouble." I whispered causing his nurse to smile at my admission whilst she checked his vitals.

Only a few hours earlier we were all happy go lucky, rolling around in bed before Avari woke up. Giggling and laughing at each other whilst we wrestled to get to the shower first after another explosive love making session.

We had sat together for breakfast, spoke about our days, Zak left to take Avari to school whilst I did some cleaning adding he was going to swing by the museum for a few hours.

What I didn't expect to do was end up in the hospital!

Because as I was cleaning this morning, I had stumbled across a letter, seeing his name, I naturally put it in a pile of his letters and went to move on until the word family caught my eye. So I snooped and lucky I did because today, under the radar and without me knowing. Zak had been in for his operation, and I was pissed!

Not because he had it done. But because he didn't tell me a single thing.

A twitch in his hand caused hope to build in my chest and my heart to stop momentarily.

"He's waking up." The nurse informed me as I looked at her for some answers.

Swallowing, I pulled the chair even closer, not letting go of his hand for a second.

The hazel and storm mix eyes opened up to the ceiling before he blinked looking down at his hand which I was holding.

"Lettie." He whispered.

I clutched his hand tighter as he pulled a tired smile and fell back to sleep on me.

"The anaesthesia takes a while to wear off, he may not make much sense." The nurse added before leaving us alone.

"Finally." I muttered, kicking off my shoes and climbing on the bed to hold him and stroke his hair. Right now he was vulnerable, so my ass whooping would have to wait.

A hearty yawn left Zak's body making me turn from the window to look over at him

A hearty yawn left Zak's body making me turn from the window to look over at him.

Making my way over I poured some water and placed the straw inside before helping him drink some.

"Thank you." He croaked when I placed it back down.

"What the hell were you thinking?" I whispered quietly sitting down to take his hand again.

"What? What's up?" He asked looking around him.

"What's wrong? What's wrong? My partner going under and me not knowing a damn thing! You could have died in surgery and I would have been none the wiser sat at home waiting for you to come back!" I snapped before looking away with tears burning in my eyes.
