In this world some people can be happy and then some others aren't. It depends where they are in the world. It depends also what day of the year it is. This one day in particular everybody in the whole world despises.
Twice a year, in September and in March, they have the Slimming-out ceremony. This is when the leaders of the cities pick five people in their city above the age of 12 and below the age of 21. Everybody has to attend the slimming-out ceremony or they will be punished in someway. In the beginning of the slimming-out ceremony everybody attended physically, but now everybody just watches on TV.
The leader of the city comes up to the podium and starts to talk about their cities great history. After the leader for a few minutes he gets handed a sheet of paper. That paper has the five dreaded names of the killing for this half year.
When the leader reads the white little sheet of paper everything changes. Everything. And nothing for the better.
