Gif above: BEN! Hands up if your jelly about Flynn getting to tap THAT.

*.*.*.*

Ben and I couldn't stop stealing glances at each other.

I was sat in our own living room, a room that I had been familiar with for the past nineteen years.

I've never felt like such a stranger to this place until now.

"Karen." I started. The same thing I had just muttered a minute ago when I tried to make a previous attempt to start this sentence.

She looked at me expectantly, her back straight, legs crossed and fingers intwined together. Her brunette tresses were tied up into a messy bun, except a few strands that managed to escape. She looked exhausted, even with layers of make up coating her pale cheeks, her under eye bags were obvious, as were her selection of clothes, a simple pink t-shirt and sweatpants, the same set of clothes she had been wearing for the past two maybe three days.

I took a deep breath. "Karen."

"For god's sake, Flynn. Theres no need to say her name again." Ben buried his face in his hands.

"Do you mind not interrupting?" I raised a brow at him. Obviously, I didn't mean it in a rude way, and he knew that.

"Yes, Flynn? What is it?" Karen asked, her impatience evident. To be fair, I didn't blame her. We've been sat here for ten minutes, but it feels like it's been three years.

I closed my eyes, sighed, played with the buttons on my shirt, tousled my hair, and then finally, met her eyes. "I owe you an apology for acting like a twat."

She pursed her lips, obviously not expecting a swear word in there. "Really, there's no need to-"

"You never deserved the cold shoulder, I'm just a bit of a bitch who's good at holding grudges." I shrugged, finding my words come easier to me as I spoke without thinking too much. "I feel I owe you a thank you instead, because I would probably not be with Ben right now without you."

"You were obviously just trying to help. I feel some of my anger might've been traced back to my mother, and I took it out on you for all the wrong reasons like you being a man stealing who-"

Ben coughed.

"That aside, I'm truly, really, sorry. You just wanted to watch out for me and make sure I was okay."

"I shouldn't have pushed my boundaries, don't blame yourself fully." she said with her voice low. "I'll try and respect your privacy now. I should have never told Ben about your cyclothymia before you were even given the chance to tell him yourself."

Ok, I was not expecting that...

"That's true, it's was all just a endless series of misunderstandings to be honest. I should have been a lot more forgiving though. It's been a couple months."

"More than a couple months..." Ben just couldn't help but add. I glared at him.

"Whatever." I scoffed. "Go away, nobody likes you."

He smirked knowingly. That idiot.

"I hope that my apology is enough, I'm too broke to even buy cheap flowers from the corner shop." I sighed, "When I have enough money I'll get you something."

"Don't worry about it." she said. "I hate owning flowers, they stink and are too high maintenance. They're nice to look at when you're not having to water them though."

I chuckled. "Noted."

"Well I'm glad that's done." I clapped my hands and stood up, "I can't do serious talks."
