Sometimes your past defines you
But more often than not, it shows you who you'll be
In the future of your shining star, how brightly you will burn
It shows you what you're meant to do
It shows you your unaltered, true identity
It teaches you your lessons, even if they're hard to learn
If you don't want the present to be part of your story
Change it to what, later on, you'd gladly read
And remember that your future's not final, though your past is etched in stone
If you want to live and be part of an adventure full of glory
You can't stand still––you'll be the person who takes the lead
And remember that your ending is no one's but your own.
Your journey is just as important as the destination, but both can be beautiful, no matter what happens. So, as much control as you have in your life, channel it and push yourself to find your happy ending! (You have one, promise.)
