When the vampires reached us I saw there were six of them and all had the signature pale skin and coldness in the way they walked. I huddled closer to Mel since she was the one with the killer moves and all. As the vampires reached us I saw one of them had violet eyes. Just like Mel's. I furrowed my eye in confusion. What happened next was what shocked me.
Mel ran towards the vampire with violet eyes and embraced him in a hug. I was left open-mouthed, maybe they were related. The man or boy whichever he was, hugged Mel back equally tight and when he looked up I saw he had tears in his eyes and since he was a vampire he cried tears of blood. It was mesmerizing to watch.
"I missed you so much my little munchkin."
"I missed you too Dumont"
When they pulled apart she wiped her tears and then all of a sudden smacked his arm. The other five vampires who were still before let out little snickers.
"Three months you little dick! Where the hell were you?"
"Training baby girl. I assume you haven't had yours yet."
"Uh yeah, at least you could have told me! Max and I were going crazy thinking you were staked or something! We had half a mind to place a funeral for you."
The vampire rolled his eyes and poked his tongue out at her. Then his gaze landed on me. I gulped in fear, even though he seemed to know Mel and acted like her friend, I still found him scary and a hell lot of intimidating. In a flash, he was behind me and I could feel him smelling me.
"Hmm. And who is this? She smells wonderful. Mind if I have a taste?"
"Come on Dumont don't scare her. She is Hailey, my new sister and best friend."
In another instant he was back in front of me pouting like a little kid then he smiled a true smile and held my hand up to kiss it. He straightened up and spoke again.
"Well in that case it is a pleasure to meet you, my new sister"
Me being the weirdo I am gawked at him with an open mouth. He laughed and did some motions and weird gestures with his hands and I stared at him more.
"What? She doesn't know sign language also?"
"Dumont she is new to all this and she never saw a vampire before. Come to think of it maybe she never even saw a vampire on TV."
She added the last part bitterly and it might have clicked in what I'm guessing is Dumont's mind and he looked furious. His eyes that was violet before turned pure red showing anger and thirst for the blood of the one that caused the anger. I was getting creeped out and Mel seeing this stopped this before he did something else. As soon as she touched his shoulder his eyes turned violet and then his eyes rimmed with tears and he bought me in for a hug. I closed my eyes and snuggled into the warmth knowing full well that I got a new brother as well as a sister today. After a moment he pulled back and wiped his tears away and grinned his signature grin.
"Well sisters, since I am now a fully grown vampire and have gotten the training complete I cordially invite you for my coronation. It is taking place in three months and you should be there as well as the tax machine."
"Tax machine?"
I asked why would he need a tax machine and did he say coronation?
"Coronation?" I squeaked out
"Don't worry sister I won't bite"
"Hails he is a royal vampire and he will be crowned king in three months. Well and let me tell you who he is now. My grandfather had a brother who was a vampire turned and his mate was the queen and after three generations, Dumont here is my cousin."
I nodded at the information and after the long hugs filled goodbye, Dumont was just walking away talking about unreachable girls and Mel started laughing maybe reading his mind or her other voodoo stuff.
"Make sure to bring her to meet me. I think I'll have another friend."
And then we were off. I finally thought that I was having my very own family. Something I've always wanted. On the way to the house I fell asleep thinking about how I had another chance at future and my life.

so...........hailey feels safe at her new home with her new family. will it change in the future? will she be happy?
