chapter 21

When Danny and Hailey were gone I told Adrian to follow me and he did all the while looking like a little puppy that was kicked. I felt deep sorrow for him and that's why I wanted to help him. I walked to the other side of the castle and to my office. I saw Adrian's beta also standing there and remembered I had called him before. I swish my hand and the door to my opens. I just installed the magic and loved when someone other than me tried to enter. They get shocked literally and figuratively. Judging from the beta's face he got shocked once before and now 'cause he just found out I am the princess. They walk in and I motion them to sit on the chairs in front of my desk. As soon as I sit in my chair behind the desk I look in Adrian's eyes and get the biggest shock of my life.

As soon as I look in Adrian's eyes I see the traces of black magic. Before my butt can even touch the chair I am up again and across the room to my huge bookshelf and look for the book I need. As soon as I see it I pull it out and go back to my chair. All the time Adrian and his beta are watching me closely. I pick my phone and call a number I know by heart.

"I need you here. A.s.a.p."

I put the phone down and look at Adrian once more.

"so Adrian, you say your wolf is wild, hates everyone and is suicidal. I reckon it is because your mate is dead and you felt it on your first shift. don't growl and answer my question dammit!"

He looked down at his fingers, took a deep breath and gave a small nod. I let out a sigh and close my eyes.

"look, Adrian, I consider you as my friend and I want to help you. There are some things going around that you don't understand but I can help you. As much as I fucking hate my mate and the idea of the whole mating thing, I will help you find yours."

"I don't need a new mate. I'm fine"

"no, Adrian. You are not fine and I never said anything about a new mate!"

Adrian and his beta's eyes widened and I could see the little flicker in Adrian's eyes.

I smiled and groaned when I heard the huge bang signaling my door breaking. I put my head in my hands and gave a huge groan.

"Dumont! Not another door. It was open. All you had to do was twist the knob and come in! idiot"

"hey, you were the one that said to come a.s.a.p."

"I didn't mean....... You know what, I can get that fixed. Come and look here. This is alpha, Adrian. Alpha, this is my stupid cousin Dumont. Now that that's over. Dumont look in Adrian's eyes.

He did as I told and gasped.

"it can't be! I need...... give me your hand."

Adrian growls and moves back. He looks at me and reluctantly gives Dumont his hand. Dumont takes it and his eyes turn red. His fangs come out and Adrian looks freaked out but stays in place. I go to the mini fridge in the corner and take out three packets of blood. when Dumont releases his hand he turns around and snarls at me. I throw the bags at him and he tears into them, drinking hungrily.

When he is finished I look at him with question in my eyes.

"it's her.

I slumped down in my chair. By her, Dumont means a dark witch named Aphrodite. She preys on the souls of innocent people to look young and beautiful. The purer the soul is the more beautiful she gets. Why did I call Dumont here? Well, he has kind of like a hatred for that bitch and not only him but the whole vampire world.

Centuries ago she stole one of the most valuable vampire artifacts. It was kinda like a pair of rings that had a valuable stone. Only two of which exist. The king and queen of all vampires had it because it helped channel a kind of power that made all vampires control their bloodlust in public. Ever since the witch took it none of the vampires have been able to access the human world. As soon as they are surrounded by humans they lose control and lash out, fangs and all. That ancient relic was given to the vampires by the sun god so they could control blood lust and not destroy all humans. Besides controlling the vampires bloodlust it also has a huge amount of powers stored in it. All gems, in general, have a huge amount of power stored in them. the power can be used during a very tiring spell. The gem gets drained and the witch is left powerful. Normal gems have a lot less power compared to the gems given to us by the gods. Each species has one. The humans have what is called diamonds, even they do not know how to use the power stored inside it. The vampires have rubies, the witches have emeralds, the fae has topaz and us werewolves have sapphires. The other species have other less powerful rocks.

Only the royal family or an alpha has the power to wield the power of the gems. My first sapphire will be given to me on my coronation. Back to the present. The bitch.......I mean witch Aphrodite is a royal but she was banished years ago from her family because she turned to dark magic and it is forbidden in the rules of magic. She sacrifices young souls of women to look young and beautiful. I despise her. I met her when I was twelve and mom had taken me on a trip to another pack but we were ambushed on the way and barely were able to escape. We lost three of our guards and one had suffered permanent injury and killed himself shortly after. I clench my fists in my hands and I could feel my eyes turn golden. Dumont's eyes turned red and together we whispered together in Latin.

When we were done, Adrian was still there with his beta, looking at us with fear and confusion in their eyes. I look away from his eyes and the trace of her magic.

When a witch does a curse or a spell, a trace of her powers is left behind. Even if I had one encounter with her, I still know what her trace is like. I clear my throat and explained all about the witch to Adrian. When I'm done he just looks openmouthed at me but closes it and looks away. After a moment he says,

"why does this concern me and the fact you had to make this vampire touch me"

I sigh and wave my hands around so there is a little shimmer in the air around Adrian. He looks at me with question in his eyes. He then tries to move but he can't.

"what is this? Let me out now."

"trust me, Adrian, this is for your own safety and also for the safety of my furniture. The truth will shake you and cause you to shift but you have to control it."

"well go on then say it."

"your mate is alive. She is under the witches spell."

Two things happened simultaneously. The beta fell to the floor sobbing and Adrian shifter to his beast of a wolf. Over the years since Adrian's wolf thought his mate was dead, he kind of mutated. So, when he shifts he looks like a monster instead of a wolf.

"you need to calm down Adrian and let me explain."

He kind of calms down and sits on the floor, looking at me expectantly.

here is another chapter. i hope u guys like adrian cuz he plays an important role in the future. also if by anymeans some of u get intrested in the the story of adrian i will be ready to write a little side story but i wont publish it till it is wanted by at least some of u........ so here u go.
