Fallen Families

Chapter 14.

Chris and Scarlett were in the kitchen the next morning trying to make a decent breakfast. They never had to cook for anyone else before so this was something new and exciting. Chris ended up going back to his place so he can feed Dodger and came back early the next morning. 

"Chris, do you think she likes eggs?" Scarlett asked. She was looking at her eggs and was thinking what if she didn't like them. "what if she is allergic to eggs." Scarlett worried. 

"Scar, if she was then all those desserts you made her last night would have killed her. But she is fine, and she sure reminds me of you." Chris said as he watched Scarlett dance around the kitchen. 

"What do you mean?" She asked putting the eggs on a plate and then finally looking at Chris for the first time. 

"She is a very forward person, like you. She apparently likes to sleep in, like you. And she is very good at hiding." Chris said throwing a strawberry in his mouth. He smiled over at Scarlett who was shaking her head. 

"What do you mean? How do you know she is hiding?" Asked Scarlett. 

"In the last fifteen minutes, I have heard the sound of footsteps come down the stairs and stop at the kitchen. Then the went to the living room, a second pair of feet soon followed so if I am correct Nicole and her friend are in the living room on their phones." He said with an amazing smile. 

Scarlett shook her head not believing Chris. So she made Chris watch the eggs while she went to the living room. And sure enough, Nicole and Ava were sitting on the couch on their phones. Scarlett couldn't help but smile, but she was a little upset she hadn't heard what was going on, unlike Chris. 

"Hi," Ava said first noticing Scarlett's presence. Scarlett smiled at the young girl. 

"Good morning. how did you guys sleep? Sorry if the bed wasn't all the comfortable." Scarlett said rubbing the back of her neck. 

"Are you kidding me? That was the most comfortable bed in the world!" Ava announce. All Nicole did was a nod in agreement. Scarlett smiled and asked the girls to clean up for breakfast. They nodded and headed upstairs. Scarlett made her way back to the kitchen where Chris was already done the cooking and started the dished. 

She watched him from behind and couldn't help but smile. He would have been a great father had things turned out differently. She could also tell how much Nicole and Chris were alike. They both had the shy side to them. They could be loud and outgoing at times but other times they would prefer to be left alone. Not to mention their golden hair was the exact same shade. 

"Hey Scar, I am going to head out. I have to go get ready to go to set okay?" Chris said. They had to work today despite the fact that they didn't want to. It's was too late to actually call in. 

"Okay, Chris I will meet you at the set." She smiled. Chris told her to make sure the girls stay home just in case. Scarlett nodded and then went into the living room where the girls were back. They had washed their hands and faces and were waiting for breakfast.  She smiled and coughed getting the girls attention.

"So girls I and Chris actually have work today. Had we known of your.... arrival we would have taken the day off but of course, we didn't and it's too late to call into work." She said sadly. 

"Oh." Was all Nicole said and there was a sense of awkwardness floating around them. Ava saw the deminer on Scarlett's face and Nicole's disappointment. Nicole told Ava she wanted to get to know them today. 

"Are you guys shooting Avengers?" Ava asked. 

"Yeah, we are." Scarlett nodded with a small smile. 

"You know we love Avengers. Don't we Nicole." Ava said stabbing Nicole with her elbow when she didn't answer. 

"What? Oh yeah, we do." 

"Do you now?" Scarlett asked looking at the girls suspiciously. 

"Why don't we join you. You could tell you, co-stars, we are just fans. Or you nieces?" Ava suggested. Scarlett knew it probably wasn't the best idea but looked at the girls. She didn't want to leave them alone. She really wanted to speak with her daughter. So she did something she would probably get in trouble for by Chris and the director. 

"Okay. Go get dressed. We are going to set."

OH MY GOD. I am soo sorry i left you guys for so long. Well this was a short chapter but at least it's something. Now that our civil war is done I am gonna start posting this story more often! Hope you guys enjoy and get ready for some Evansson!
