Chapter Seventeen

Third Person POV

A breeze blew through the town and towards the Fairy Tail destroyed guild hall. Wizards and citizens alike had been surprised to find the place in ruins that morning. Everyone wondered who would dare make such a daring move against them and think that they could get away with it.

As the sun set over the horizon, and Fairy Tail continued to remain inactive that door, others found themselves wondering the street. Lucy slowly made her way back to her apartment alone, talking only to Plue. Levy and her teammates walked around as well, with no set destination in mind.

Mirajane had just finished cleaning the basement, making sure that there was no one left to serve and that the table were wiped down when she looked towards the door, wondering where Beau was and why she hadn't shown up with Lucy and the others. Shaking her head, Mirajane decided to leave the other female alone for the night, knowing that she would likely show up the next day.

Lucy found herself spending the night with Erza, Gray, and Natsu with no signs of the other rose haired female showing up. Worry continued to grow inside of the blonde but she knew that if it really had been Red that nothing would have happened to her.

Unable to fall asleep like she had thought, Lucy looked towards Erza before getting up from and leaving the room. She spotted both Natsu and Happy sound asleep on the floor, but no signs of where her other male member was. Shaking her head, Lucy walked over to the window, noticing that she had left it unlocked.

"Where are you Beau?" Lucy mumbled. "What happened?" She wondered, hoping that her gut was wrong.

Knowing that she wouldn't find any answers from staring out the window, Lucy decided to try and get rest once again. Something she knew wasn't likely to happen any time soon. Turning around Lucy missed the figure that appeared under the street light.

Her body was covered in wounds, some shallow enough that they wouldn't leave a scar but one. A long stained white scarf was wrapped around their chest, their rosey colored hair tangled and in a mess. Black eyes scanned the area before she continued, knowing that no danger lurked around at that moment.

Beau pushed slightly against the wound that should have killed her. Surprised had filled the girl when she found herself waking up at dusk and her wounds had been treated. She couldn't help but wonder who would have helped her, thinking that Red had left her there to die.

Sparks of fire flackered around her hands as she found herself low on energy and worn out. She knew that those next 15 steps would be the hardest steps in her life time, and she couldn't help but think she wouldn't make it.

The female dragon slayer looked up towards the night sky, a pained expression on her face.

"Can't sleep?" Gray asked, spotting Lucy before she could go back to her bedroom.

"Beau isn't back yet." Lucy said, her eyes flickering to the window that she left unlocked. "I just thought she would've returned already."

"She's fine." Gray said, knowing that the female wouldn't lose so easily. "She told us to go ahead without her remember. She had ran into a friend."

Lucy nodded in agreement but couldn't help but continue to worry.

"Ya, you're right. It was Red after all. He wouldn't hurt her or allow anything to hurt her." Yet Lucy couldn't help but doubt the words that left her.

She had known Red for only a short time and knew that he really hurt the girl yet Lucy couldn't explain why the words she spoke seemed like a lie. Why her gut twisted in unease.

"Great, now let's get some sleep. That Flame Head is actually being quiet for once." Gray said, getting a smile to crack on Lucys face.

Beau flinched as she pushed her hand against her worst wound, feeling as more blood came out. Her other hand reached out, grabbing the door that she was so close to feeling as if her body was about to give out from under her. Pain filled the girl, as she fought to stay awake and moving.

She could hear voice coming from inside telling her that Lucy wasn't alone. Worry filled the female Dragon slayer until she recognized the male voice.

The door cracked opened, grabbing both Lucys and Grays attention, both wondering who the possible intruder could be. They could see the outline of the person, neither knowing what to expect or if it was an attack on them.

"Lucy." Beau called out, using the door frame as support.

"Beau, where have you been?" Lucy asked, relief feeling her as she found her found to be okay. "Did you see the guild hall?"

Taking a step forward the relief that had once filled Lucy disappeared. She had assumed that Beau had been okay but she watched as the girl seemed to be acting strange, not moving from her spot or attacking her with a hug. Did something happen?

"Now's not the time to mess around." Gray said, being more cautious. "Phantom could still be out there."

Still Beau remained silent, finding that she was using all the strength she had to remain standing.

"You can stop now, Beau." Lucy said, Grays hand falling onto her shoulder stopping her from moving forward. "Come on, you're not being funny."

Beau took a step forward allowing the moonlight that filled the room to reveal what she looked like. Lucy gasped, feeling as her stomach twisted. Gray hand formed into a fist.

She reached her hand out and towards Lucy, tears still falling from her face. "Lu-" Beau collapsed forward, her body unable to stay awake anymore.

"Beau!" Lucy shouted, waking both Erza and Natsu from their peaceful slumbers.

She watched as Gray moved, grabbing the female before she could hit the ground. Tears streamed down her own face as her hands came to her mouth. Just who would hurt her friend.

Natsu moved, looking around for the danger before spotting the unconscious female. He moved, going to Lucy as the girl cried.

"W-who would do this?" Lucy cried out. "Who would do such a thing to her?" She asked, feeling as Natsu pulled her into him.

Erza entered the room on full alert, spotting as Gray kneele over someone and Natsu was comforting Lucy. She couldn't understand what was happening but assumed that they had been attacked.

"What happened?" Erza demanded. "Did we get attacked?"

"This is unforgivable." Gray said, picking up the unconscious female. "Them bastards won't get away with this." He promised, blaming the same person who had attacked their guild hall.

"Beau," Lucy said to Erza. "Someone had attacked Beau." She choked out.

"It was that male from today. It's only his scent on her." Natsu said, his voice deadly claim. "Her friend was the one that attacked her."

"He wouldn't do that." Lucy said, shaking her head as she moved towards her friend and away from Natsu. "He wouldn't do that." But her voice was laced with doubt and unsureness.

Erza found the actions to be unforgiving. How could a friend do something like that.

"We have to tell Master." Erza said, looking at the group. "Gray, Natsu, you two take her to the hospital while Lucy and I go report this. Be careful as phantom could still be in town."

Both males nodded, listening to Erza both hoping that they could run into the male that had done this. Lucy followed after Erza, wondering just what had caused Red to attack Beau when there shouldn't have been a reason.

All four remaining unware of what took place just a short distance from them.
