"I am Alister Moody," the new teacher turned and started to write on the board. "Ex-Auror, and your new defense against the dark arts teacher. I am here because Dumbledore had ask me to; that's the end of the story. Any questions?"

Everyone stayed silent. He continued, "When it comes to the dark arts, I prefer to be straight forward." He walked over to the board once more, "Who can tell me how many curses there are?"

What's he doing?

"Three, sir," Hermione spoke up. I turned to her and she gave me a nod. I nodded back, and looked back to the board.

"And they have that name because?" He started to write on the board.

"Because they are unforgiveable," I answered. "Using them willl-"

"Will send you straight to Azkaban," He turned back to us. "Correct. The ministry says that all of you are too young to get shown what these curses do. I say different!"

I tensed up, He wouldn't...

"You need to understand what you're up against!" He spun around towards the board again. "You need to be prepared for them! You need to find another place to put your gum besides underneath your desk, Mr. Finnagan!"

"Awe, the old bugger can see out of the back of his head," Seamus whined, quietly.

Moody turned around and chucked a piece of chalk at him, "And hear across a classroom!"

This dude is insane!

"So," he got quieter than his yelling, "which curse should we see first?" He looked around and his eyes landed on Ron, "Weasley!"

We all jumped but Ron seemed to be terrified, "Yes..."

"Stand." He did so, and Moody continued, "Give me a curse."

"My...my dad did tell me one." Moody nodded, guesturing for Ron to go on. "The Imperius Curse."

Moody nodded, "Yes, your father would know all about that one. Gave the Ministry heartache years ago. Maybe this will show you why." He turned and walked over to a bunch of glass jars. He smiled as he pulled out a spider. "Engorgio. Imperio!" He put the now-abnormally-large spider onto Dean and Neville's desk.

I took a deep breath, That poor spider...Merlin.

Moody started laughing as he bounced it from one student to the next. While putting it on Ron's head he said, "Careful. If he bites...it could be lethal!" All with a smile on his face. He put it on Draco's face, and Draco started to freak out. Goyle tried to smack it off his face but failed to even touch it. "Talented isn't she?" Moody laughed. "What should she do next? Hm? Fly out the window?" he flew her against one of his glass things. He stopped laughing as well as everyone else.

Hermione and I weren't laughing at all. I was more looking at Moody with repugnance.

"Drown herself?" his voice got low as he just stared at the spider. He moved her towards some water and had just her leg touch the water. He slowly brought her back over to him. He placed her on his hand, "Loads of wizards and witches claim to only do You-Know-Who's tasks under the Imperius Curse. The thing is...how do we sort out the liars?"

He looked around the room once more. "Another." I looked around and people's hands started going up. Neville slowly raised his hand.

If he's the actual Moody, and he's an actual Auror, then he wouldn't-

"Longbottom, is it?" Moody said. "Stand." Neville did as he was told.

I leant forward with my arms on my desk.
