"I'M NEW SIR." you say again, your cheeks burning as the class erupts with laughter. the stupid teacher still eyes you with a look you want to slap right off his face.

"no, no, no! i swear i've seen you before ms...?"

"y/l/n. it's y/l/n," you mumble, letting your hair fall into your face.

"well let's find you a seat now. you can sit next to twobit. twobit please raise your hand so ms. y/l/n can see who you are."

a hand shoots up from the back off the class. it belongs to a greasy haired kid with a mickey mouse t-shirt. he grins at you as you walk over and slide into the seat besides him.

"hey, i'm twobit." his breath smelled way too much like beer but he was friendly enough.

"i'm y/n." you respond, taking out a piece of a paper and writing your name on it.

"if you don't have someone to sit with at lunch you can come find me if you want to. don't be bothered by my friends, even if they are annoying as hell." he chuckles.

"that's really nice of you twobit. thanks" you smile.

"no problem. what's your next class by the way?"

you pull out your schedule and hand it to him. he looks it over and looks up at you with a grin.

"i have history with mr. henry next period too."

you couldn't help but laugh. "really?" you take the paper from his hand. sure enough, in tiny black letters there it was, history with mr.henry.

"cool! so i don't have to sit alone." you laugh out.

-

"i have a seating chart planned out!"

you catch the eyes of twobit and roll your eyes. how dumb is a seating chart. mr. henry starts to call off names and soon only 5 people are left standing.

"johnny and y/n right here!"

you stand still untill a shuffle comes from the back of the room and a greasy haired kid comes and sits in the seat.

you walk over and slowly slide into the seat next to him. you hate talking to people you don't know.

"hey johnny!" twobit calls from the front of the room.

"that's y/n!" you couldn't help but blush. The whole class was now staring at you since twobit practically yelled it out for everyone to hear.

johnny chuckles and looks at you for the first time. his dark eyes seem amused as he still continues to laugh.

"i'm johnny cade, nice to meet you y/n"

-

"ponyboy stop okay. y/n is new here and doesn't want to hear about some dumb book you're reading!" twobit says shoving his tray in between you and pony and sitting down.

ponyboy throws twobit an annoyed look before shoving his sandwich in his mouth.

"y/n needs to hear about the drama. the," he pauses and shakes his head. "i'm not sure what word to use to describe what i want to say..."

he looks up to the sky dramatically, his eyebrows up and his eyes amused. then his idea is gone and he shrugs.

"i give up!" he groans out, pulling a ciggrate out of his back pocket.

then all of a sudden a girl turns from the table besides yours.

"tea sis. you mean tea." she says, spit flying out of her mouth in the process.

"SHELLY. turn back around, sadly nobody included you in our conversation."

"go back to kindergarten will ya twobit."

"oh god. good come back ya crazy freak."

johnny and ponyboy break out laughing as the girl turns around.

"who's she?" you ask.

"some freaky 14 year old freshman. she writes stuff in her journal about me and the gang."

twobit shutters out of disgust which brings ponyboy to tears as he laughs even harder.

"hey." johnny whispers, tugging at your sweater lightly.

you raise your eyebrows in response as you shovel fruit into your mouth.

"can i walk you home today?"

you feel pink rise to your cheeks. johnny cade wants to walk you home.

"that would be nice. thanks johnny."

"no problem y/n."

-

"so how do you like school so far?" johnny asks, walking besides you.

the sidewalks are crowded with kids from school as you stop at a street light.

"i like it. it's way better then my other school."

"really?" johnny says, a shocked look written on his face.

"even with the the greasers and socs?"

"yeah actually. there was just a lot of problems there for me." you sigh out.

"y/n i'm sorry if i made you uncomfortable." johnny says as you cross the street.

"you're fine johnny cade." you reassure him with a smile.

"hey look it's the diner up ahead." johnny points to a blue building not to far away up from where you two were walking.

"do they have good milkshakes there?"

"the best!" he says excitedly.

"hey," he says suddenly, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk.

"wanna go in now? like together?"

you hold your books closely to your chest as a breeze picks up.

"like a date?" you question. a blush finding it's way to your face once again.

johnny grins before answering.

"totally like a date."
