Karma yawned as he saw up from bed, reaching his arms up to stretch out his back before groggily clambering out of bed to turn off his alarm before Nagisa stormed in to wake him up himself. Nagisa was already awake, and likely Iyuka was as well.

The smell of coffee wafted from the kitchen as Karma trudged down the stairs, a warm mug being pressed into his hand the moment he entered the room.

"Morning, love." Nagisa planted a quick kiss on Karma's cheek before moving to finish up plating breakfast for Iyuka, who happily scarfed down her rice and miso soup before nomming on a small pancake.

Karma slowly gained awareness as the warm, slightly bitter liquid sweetened with sakura honey flowed down his throat. A smile grew on his lips as he noticed the rice stuck to Iyuka's cheeks, chuckling slightly as he took a napkin off the table to wipe the stray grains from her face.

A longer kiss was shared between the married men before Nagisa shuffled Iyuka to the other room where all her school supplies were kept so he could help her get ready. Even if he never took it up professionally, Nagisa once thought being a teacher was a possibility for him until he sunk his blade into his first fully-human victim.

Karma gave a short look at his retreating husband's back before turning to return up to his room to get dressed in his classy, but admittedly uncomfortable, suit. After finishing other assorted morning activities such as brushing his teeth, Karma grabbed his work computer and briefcase from his office before walking downstairs.

Nagisa was finishing helping Iyuka pull her backpack on before standing tall and waking over to his husband. Nagisa pecked Karma on the lips and whispered a farewell before he and Iyuka vanished into one of their more normal cars. Karma held a goofy smile on his face for another moment before getting into a somewhat fancier car to drive himself to work.

The commute was longer than ideal, but Karma was used to it as living in a mansion required that their house was out of the way.

He used his identification card at five different locations before finally making it to his office, just before 8.

A sigh left Karma's mouth as he flopped into his plush, expensive office chair. He had an hour and a half before his first meeting with some of his underlings, which he used to fill out paperwork.

The alarm on Karma's phone alerted him that it was time for his meeting, so he got up to walk to the meeting room where the rest were already waiting for him.

"Alright everybody, time to discuss the new plan." Karma began.

The meeting was long, boring, but manageable.

Karma bristled as he realized he had a meeting with a few people at similar positions to him later in the day. Those directly under him were usually good people, but those around him were less so. Karma was already working behind the scenes to get them from power, but it was only so long until they uncovered his plot, so he had to work fast enough he'd have them in checkmate before they could counterattack.

Karma shook his head. There was very little they could hold on him, and if they ever got too ballsy he had a certain assassin only one call away.

No amount of security could keep the God of Death out.

Not that anybody knew that, of course. Nagisa was good at hiding his true identity, having a full story written out for the reporters that he was going to be a teacher, but when Iyuka had been adopted he decided it would be better for her if he stayed home, especially since they had plenty of money to last them and Karma had to work longer hours as a bureaucrat.

Karma smiled at the thought of his husband and all the time they spent together.

His alarm buzzed and Karma grumbled as he realized it was time for the meeting he had been dreading all day.

With an annoyed sigh, he pulled himself out of his chair and went to the meeting. It was just as dreadfully paced as ever, but the worst part was when Takahashi Keito asked Karma to stay back.

The same Takahashi Keito who had information on where Misui had been held.

"So Akabane-san, I've been looking into why Takaoka-san would be interested in funds to kidnap Hanasaki-san, and I found that she's married to Hanasaki Yumi, formally Fukase Yumi-"

"My aunt, yes. Why does this matter? You're lucky I haven't gotten enough proof to toss your ass in jail yet." Karma cut Takahashi off angrily.

"Well, I was looking into it and I found something else~ While looking for why Takaoka-san would have a grudge against you, I found he wasn't targeting you, he was targeting your husband, and for a couple years, little Akabane Nagisa went off the map entirely~ I don't know why yet, but mark my words, I'll figure out what Akabane Nagisa was doing. Call it even for you looking into the work I've been doing, ne?"

Karma growled.
