poisoned words

the stable was  busy, which isn't that normal. usually, there'd only be a few people inside and only two to three people outside, cooking. but today was different.

there was a whole crowd of people, talking.

or more so, gossiping.

there were hylians and ritos, crowding around something or maybe someone.

you and link looked at each other confusingly, wondering what the commotion was all about. you both squeezed your way through the loud crowd, every now and then hearing link say 'sorry' and 'excuse me' (not like anyone would hear him due to the loud talking) and he followed you closely. you made your way to the person being cornered.

it was a young hylian adult who you believed to be 'traysi'. a journalist of some sort.

young and old hylians were asking the poor girl a lot of questions. some ritos would occasionally ask a question or two as well. link neared you, pressing his body against yours lightly. he bent down slightly, mouth next tour pointy ear. you blushed, your whole face going red when you felt his torso lean onto your mid-back slightly. you couldn't tell if he wanted to speak to you, or if he was getting pushed.

but when you heard him take a deep breath, you nearly fell.

your knees were shaking a little and his breath sent shivers up your spine and you couldn't help but shudder a little from the close proximity between you two.

"y/n...who is that?"

you turned your head slightly, and tried to control your red face.

"u-uh um, that's t-traysi."

"what does she do?"

-

"she's a journalist, i think, she writes about the strange things she sees in hyrule. it's mostly gossip."

"any idea what everyone is asking her about?"

-

"not a clue. but i heard a rito ask about the hero-"

before you could finish, someone had accidentally pushed the person behind link with force and link bumped into you (while he also stood on someone's foot), which caused him to collide into you. you yelped when you felt his lower part of his body hit into yours and you became so flustered, you thought you were going to faint.

link felt his back being pushed hard, and he collided with y/n's...lower back.

he felt heat rise up to his cheeks and he couldn't help but fumble over his words while he was trying to apologise.

"y-y/n! i-um, i-i'm so sorry! someone p-pushed me-and-well-i uh-"

"i-it's fine, link. d-don't worry about i-it!"

"i-i uU-uh just wanted to um be able t-to speak with you over the loud n-noise! and-"

link tried to apologise but he kept stuttering and the person behind him turned him around, forcefully. he had an angry look on his face. uh oh.

"oi! you!"

he was bald, and his body was buff. link looked to his left and right, but then pointed to himself while raising an eyebrow.
