Chapter 35

Camila PoV

The gun was cold against my hand, and i was shaking with fear. I swallowed and saw Cece look my way. She pointed the gun towards me and smirked.
"You won't shoot Cabello" She rolled her eyes, taunting me.
"What makes you think that?" I stammered, as i tried to hold the gun steady.
"Look at you shaking, you are like a little, scared dog" She laughed and i heard Lauren snarl.
Then out of the corner of my eye, i saw Jake lunge towards Cece, he smashed the baseball bat into the side of her head. I saw her fall to the ground, she was out cold, or dead. I stared at her limp body on the forest floor. I was stunned and frozen, everybody's voices were muffled.
"Camila, Camila!" Somebodies voice called out, but i couldn't stop staring at Cece, just laying there, lifeless.
I then felt warmth fill my hand, i looked and saw Lauren. Her movements were frantic and she pulled on my hand. Jake, Vero, Lauren and I ran out of the forest as fast as possible.
We reached Lauren's car and we all got inside, me in the passenger seat.
"Where is Sofi?" I asked, looking in the back seat.
"At Cece's house" Vero responded, Lauren started driving. She probably knew the way since she had gone to her parties before.
"Is she ok?" My voice cracked and i felt tears coming to my eyes. My emotions were all mixing together to create one ugly mess.
"She should be...we haven't seen her in a while though" Jake answered, Lauren cursed under her breath.
"She better be ok" Lauren said, anger in her voice.
"We are really sorry, we didn't want to get caught up in this..." Vero started but Lauren cut her off.
"We are Cece's house, tell us why you are fucked up in the head later" Lauren looked at the house from inside her car.
"Lauren..." I grabbed her hand. "Please calm down" I kissed the back of her hand.
"Alright, no promises but i will try" She breathed in and out.
"We better hurry before Cece finds her way home" Vero added in.
"If she does..i hit her really hard. Guys, what if i killed her?" Jake asked, we all stared at each other in silence.
"We will discuss this later, we have to get in, find Sofi and leave as soon as possible" Lauren stated, we all got out of the car and ran softly to the door.
"How do we get in?" I asked.
"Step aside" Vero smirked and took out a bobby pin, she picked the lock with little effort and swung the door open.
"Impressive" I said.
"I've seen better" Lauren said.
We then walked into the dark house, the moonlight casting shadows in the house.
"Sofi?" I called out. We walked around the house together, not daring to split up.
"Sofi, where are ya?" Jake tried again.
I then heard footsteps on the floor, i smiled widely until i saw Cece's dog standing in front of me. I felt like kicking it, but refrained from my actions.
"Guys, over here" Vero called out, we walked over and peered into Cece's bedroom. There Sofi was, playing with her dolls on Cece's bed. She looked unafraid and i ran towards her, i pulled her into a huge hug and started crying happy tears.
"Thank god you are ok, i love you so much" I kissed her cheek and hugged her again.
"Sofi" Lauren walked to her and hugged her as well, Sofi was laughing.
"What is with all the hugs?" Sofi giggled some more and i was so happy that she was ok. I wondered if Cece ever intended to hurt Sofi, or if it was just a way to get us to the forest.
"Holy shit" Jake's voice rang out from the other side of the room, we all turned to him. He was looking in Cece's drawer, he pulled out four bottles of pills, still full.
"Look's like somebody has't been taking their medication" Lauren said, turning pale. "She isn't mentally stable for real".
We all kind of sighed, everything making sense. We then heard a car pull into her driveway. Jake threw the pills back into her drawer. Was Cece alive?
"Let's get out of here" Lauren walked towards the window and opened it. "Ready to jump?".
"Hell no" Vero crossed her arms and looked at me.
"It's not as bad it looks..we've done it before" I nodded towards Lauren.
"Vero get over your fears, or we are leaving you behind" Lauren climbed out and we all followed. I reached in and grabbed Sofi.
Sofi looked very afraid and i tried to calm her down. Sofi started to cry as she looked at the ground.
"Sofi, remember when i called you a secret agent? Well this is a mission, be brave, ok?" Lauren took Sofi into her arms and Sofi nodded. God that was adorable.
I looked in the house and saw a light go on in the hallway, we have to hurry. We started to jump down one by one, landing on our sides. Luckily nobody was hurt, and Lauren managed to jump with Sofi.
We ran back to the front of the house and into Lauren's car, where she drove off as fast as she could. Sofi was in the back with Vero and Jake. I took my phone out of my pocket, seeing missed calls from my parents. They were probably worried sick of where we were.
I stuck my phone in my pocket, i needed time to come up with a lie. If i told them the truth, Cece would kill me.
Lauren PoV
I pulled up to Camila's house and we walked inside. Her parents were in the living room and we all stood there, Sofi holding my hand.
"Camila, Sofi! Where were you?" Mrs. Cabello looked relieved.
"We all...took Sofi to the arcade" She managed to lie. "We saw Vero and Jake so we decided to hang out".
"You could of called us" Mr. Cabello said.
"No phone reception in the arcade, and if you leave you have to repay to get back in" I quickly said. Camila shot me a smile.
"We are going upstairs" Camila started walking away.
"Basement, no room remember?" Mrs. Cabello said, I laughed as Camila groaned at her parents.
Vero and Jake were snickering too, at least we were laughing. Maybe her parents wouldn't know that anything was wrong. Even though Sofi didn't want to, her parents took her up to bed.
We all went into the basement sitting on Camila's L shaped couch. Jake was spread out on one part, while i sat next to Camila. Vero was on the other side of Camila.
"Ok, time to try and justify yourselves" I barked out, staring at Vero.
"I was really upset one day, and i told Cece about how i felt like you guys were ignoring me and boxing me out. She immediately told me about her plan to get revenge, she never clarified what it was though. When my day of anger with you guys had passed, i wanted out" Vero said.
"The same thing happened to me, she got us involved when we were in emotional states. We tried to back out when we realized how crazy she was, but she wouldn't let us. She said that if we left her revenge group she would spread our secrets. Mine being that i was in rehab, which nobody knew about" Jaked clarified.
"She said she would tell everybody about my sexuality..." Vero said.
"Seems to make sense" Camila responded. I nodded along, this sounded legit.
"I guess our secrets are going to get out..but we should of let her tell them before it got to this point. Now we are in a huge mess" Vero looked down at her hands, Camila grabbed her hand and rubbed her thumb on it.
"Trust me, your secrets aren't that bad. People will accept you, i know they will. You can even tell your parents before she can, we did that before" Camila said. I felt an urge of jealousy rage through me as i saw there hands together.
But i remembered how worried i was to tell my parents, Vero needed our support. Even if it meant Camila rubbing her hand.
"We don't even know if our secrets will get out" Jake stated. "I hit her harder than i intended...i might have killed her".
"We just have to wait and see, ok?" I looked at Jake, for once not hating the boy.
"I killed a person" Jake mumbled.
"Stop Jake, it was self defense. She was going to kill..." Camila struggled to say my name. I wanted to hold her in my arms.
"She might not be dead" Vero said. We all nodded and stayed silent for a while.
"She was really obsessed with you" Vero looked over at me and for once i didn't hate her either.
"Who isn't?" I questioned. We all laughed and i felt extremely close to everybody.
No matter how many fights we got in with each other, we were in this moment together. We were all teens thrown into a horrible situation.
"I'm tired" I said, sprawling out on the couch, Camila cuddled into my side, practically lying on top of me. Vero and Jake also found a way to lie down.
We all started to fall asleep in her basement, yet her parents didn't bother us. They actually turned off the lights for us. Maybe they had that parental sixth sense, telling them that we needed the night together.
"You are quiet tonight, are you ok?" I whispered to Camila, her head buried in my neck.
"I'm ok" She responded.
"Ok baby" I kissed her forehead.
Everything wasn't ok, but i would just talk about it tomorrow. I heard Camila's soft snores and i smiled. Everybody was asleep and i tried to fall asleep to.
My mind kept me awake for a while, me being drunk put us in this whole mess. I almost injured the people i love most. I guess i never realized how much i loved and cared about them until now.
Also, just thinking that Cece could still be out there was scary, yet i didn't want her dead. I didn't want us to live knowing that we watched a girl die. I sighed and tried to calm down my mind.Camila PoV
