I'd seen Engel today about three times, and all three times, she either sporadically turned around, death stared me, or just straight up ignored me.

Great day, really.

I was sitting in Math class, thinking about tomorrow.

I really wanted to do something special, and I was fucking sure Noah had thought of something brilliant.

And a record is cool...but...it didn't feel like enough.

I was missing something.

Something crucial.

Something that...maybe to anyone else would seem absolutely unrelated if not minor...but would mean a whole lot more to him.

It couldn't be bought, I knew that much.

I didn't have enough time to go thrifting to find some one-of-kind original thing.

But...

What could I do?

Write him a song?

Serenade him?

Okay, hmmm...the first somewhat proper romantic gesture he made...was that note.

Which had a beautiful portrait of me and by his standers...a sweet romantic Edgar Allen Poe poem.

And I know it means so much more to me now than it did then.

It's probably the most beautiful thing I've even been given.

And it just...came from his heart.

So...I needed to give him something...from my heart.

Easier said than done.
