17. She made me kiss Nick

Jonas' POV

Guess where Adam is taking Grace on a date. Yip. The ice cream parlour. How original . . . not. Nick, Finlay, Levi and I have decided to supervise their date. We are going to sit behind Grace in the next booth.

Teddy, Ruby and Aber are going to be sitting on the other side, behind Adam. Adam knows that we boys will be there, but grace doesn't. Grace knows that the girls will be there, but Adam doesn't.

Nana knows that all three groups will be there and not to call us by our names. Everyone except Grace and Adam. Their date is in half an hour, so the girls and the boys are out back munching on ice cream.

Finlay is making goo-goo-eyes at Aber and she is making goo-goo-eyes at Nick. And Nick is oblivious to the whole situation, making goo-goo-eyes at his cookie dough ice cream, not noticing the five pairs of eyes focused on him.

Fifteen minutes kids, you better get seated." Nana sings, giving us all a quick hug. "Have fun." She ushers us into the main dining area.

"Thanks for the ice cream Nana." I call over my shoulder. Our groups split up and go to our separate booths.

Nick slides in still holding the two litre tube of ice cream. He can eat cookie dough by the tub. He once ate two tubs in two hours. It didn't stay down, of course.

"Nick, didn't you notice the hot blonde checking you out?" Finlay asks Nick.

"Huh, what hot blonde. Oh, Aber. She wouldn't have been checking me out. She's too beautiful for me, she's way out of my league." He says pushing the tub of ice cream away.

Nick's phone starts ringing and he answers with a hello. He stands up about to leave but sits down again. He puts it in speaker and places the phone on the table. "Thank you, Nick." Teddy's voice comes from the phone.

"Hey babe, what ya ringing for?" I ask.

"To tell Nick tha–" she starts but gets cut off.

"I was checking Nick out and was wondering if we could hang out after?" Aber's voice seems confident, but I knew very well she wasn't.

"Sure Aber, I would love too. Maybe we do something more original then getting an ice cream." Nick smiles.

"Sounds great." Then the line goes dead. We hear the girls laughing, then we start, just as Adam and Grace walk in. We all go silent.

Nana directs them to the booth between the two groups. Adam doesn't notice the girls and Grace doesn't notice us. "What would you like today kids?"

"Cookie dough please." Grace says quietly.

"I'm sorry dear but a few of my grandchildren were in before and my little Nicholas took all my cookie dough ice cream." Nana explains to Grace.

"Oh, well do you have cookies and cream?" Grace asks and Nana nods, "May I have that flavour then."

"Certainty dear, and what would you like Hun?" Nana asks Adam.

"Same as Grace please Nana." Adam says.

Once Nana walks away Grace asks Adam a few questions. "Is she really you Nana?"

"Na, she's Jonas' Nana." He answers honestly.

"How old would little Nicholas be?" Grace asks.

"Um, seventeen."

"Oh, right." She replies awkwardly.

"Yeah."

"So, what do you like to do for fun?" she asks him.

"Fun . . . um I skateboard, listen to music, play guitar and video games." He answers.

"What games do you like to play?" she asks.

"Any really. Are you a gamer?" Adam replies with a question.

"Huge gamer, Assassin's Creed is my favourite. I like Call of Duty too." Grace smirks. This girl is perfect for Adam.

"Any good compared to Hailey? 'Cause we need someone to beat her. Even I can't, I ended up losing. She made me kiss Nick." Adam sighs as two cell phones go off in unison. Teddy walks past as Levi gets up. Not saying a word, he and Teddy leave.

I frown as I try to think of things those texts could have said. Had someone died or is someone badly injured and in hospital? I sigh and put my head on the table. I should just go home. "Right, I'm going home. Night homos." I say as get up.

I walk out the door and get on my motorbike. I arrive home to darkness. I turn the kitchen light on as I walk in. "Turn that fucking light off!" mum snaps. "What the fuck are you doing home, Jonas," she drags out my name, "why aren't you at your girlfriend's? What? Has the slut dumped your pathetic ass already?" mum sneers.

"Are you fucking drunk mum? You promised me and Skylar you'd stop drinking. You're the pathetic one, do your promises mean nothing? I hate you." I storm out of the kitchen and into my bedroom, slamming the door behind me. I switch my light on and stagger to my wardrobe grabbing my bag and shoving some clothes in. I grab my laptop and charger and my phone charger.

Dropping my bag just out the door, I walk back into the kitchen. "You piece of fucking scum. Get out of my fucking house." Mum yells at me.

"You know what, I was going to leave quietly but fuck that now. You wanna know why dad left us? 'Cause you're an abusive bitch and a two faced fucking cow. Dad left you and now I'm leaving too." I shout at her.

Her fists connect with my body multiple times, the last one knocking me to the floor where she continues beating me. Her foot smashing into my stomach about ten times before she walks off. I hear the front door slam as I pick myself up off the floor.

I cringe in pain as I grab my bag and walk out the front door. Getting on my bike I head to Finlay, Nick and Adam's flat.

I knock on the door and wait for it to be opened. "Wow dude you look like snit." Finlay says warily.

"Can I come in?" I ask.

"Oh, yeah right come in." Finlay says opening the door wider for me. "You know where the spare room is, once you've got yourself cleaned up I wanna hear what happened." I nod and walk upstairs.

I shower, which is painful. The hot water stings the wounds that are all over my body. I look at myself in the mirror, I notice that there are bruises beginning to form on various parts of my body. I sigh pulling on a pair of jeans and head downstairs.

All four of us sit in silence until Adam speaks up, "So I'm going to assume the other guy looks worse."

"It was my mum."
