yue smiled kindly at the boy in front of her, who seemed to be nervous about something.
"u-um, hi, yue. i just- i just wanted to-" he seemed to be choking on his words, causing yue to furrow her eyebrows in concern, and her friend to stifle a laugh.
"is everything alright, jisung?"
he nodded firmly, "yep. i just- here," he shoved a note in her hands and ran away.
yue shrugged, which made her friend finally release the dam of chuckles he had been holding in.
"what is this, the tenth love letter this week? you've gotta stop being so nice, everyone is mistaking your kindness for affection."
"and what's wrong about that, kai? it's not my fault they like me, i'm just being nice," yue pouted, crossing her arms.
kai laughed again, ruffling her hair, "i know, i know, moonie," the affectionate nickname made the girl grin, as she tried her best to loop her arm around the lanky boy's shoulders.
"it's halloween tomorrow, do you have plans?"
he smiled, "the same ones as always. my place at 7?"
yue nodded happily, "yes, i was just making sure you didn't forget."
"how could i? it's tradition for us," kai gave her one more hug, "i'll see you tomorrow, okay? sorry i can't walk you home today."
yue just shook her head, "don't worry about it. get home safely, ningning!" she stood, waving after him as he walked away.
just then, someone she wasn't expecting to see had walked by. "beomgyu?"
the boy stopped, looking over his shoulder. seeing who it was, he looked forward and continued on his way.
she quickened her pace to catch up with him, "so it is you," but she knew he wouldn't answer.
their paces were matched as they walked wordlessly down the sidewalk. his tall stature looked a bit odd next to her shorter one, but yue didn't mind.
"i'm gonna call you beomnamu(*)," yue grinned, deciding to elaborate when he looked at her in confusion, "because you look like a chestnut, and beomgyu kinda sounds like chestnut."
"what should i call you then?"
he just kept on surprising her. yue shrugged, not expecting him to ask that.
"성가신(*)?"
he chuckled quietly to himself, as she pouted, "that's not funny!"
