beomgyu walked idly down the sidewalk, home being the last place he had wanted to go at the moment. what used to be his only escape route was seen less and less, so the boy had no choice but to go.
he unlocked the door quietly, and took off his shoes. slipping on his house slippers, he heard the voice of his mother call him.
"beomgyu, come here, please."
he took in a deep breath, and walked into the kitchen.
"take a seat," his father demanded. though he didn't raise his voice, there was a certain sternness behind it; and that's what scared beomgyu the most.
his father cleared his throat, before slapping a piece of paper onto the table. "what the hell is this?"
beomgyu sat, silent. he stared ahead at the wall, not moving to make eye contact with either of his angry parents.
"how do you go from nearly a perfect mark, to this?!" his father held up the paper, which had a bright, red '167' on the top. "not gonna answer, huh?"
his mother crossed her arms, before finally pitching in a few words, "how are you going to get into medical school with these marks? or any school, for that matter?"
she sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"beomgyu, you cannot slack."
"remember our deal. we will send you abroad much earlier than planned," his father threatened.
his internal panic surfaced for merely a second before he was able to suppress it, "but- what if that's not what i want to do?" it was the first thing he had said since he got home; the words came out quietly, but his parents heard them loud and clear.
"it's not what you want to do in this world, it's what you must. i refuse to let my first born slack off and not make a living," his mom watched him with critiquing eyes, "this is unacceptable."
his father pointed at the papers again, "i know you're better than this. or are you stupid? huh?"
beomgyu looked down at his lap, knowing he should be used to the scrutiny. but the young boy inside him was not.
it went on like this for twenty more minutes, before he was able to leave the dining room. instead of going into his bedroom, he left his house entirely, not even bothering to lock the door.
where do i go?
beomgyu had no destination in mind as he let his mind wander off and his limbs take control.
he just knew that he needed to be away. he needed to be taken to a place where he could feel nothing except happiness; because the world he was living in, he felt everything but.
his world was cold. and lonely.
he needed a light; something, or someone, to brighten his melancholic life.
"beomgyu?"
and just like that, a light had been switched on.
he turned slowly, the rain droplets making it hard to see her. but he knew who it was.
"why are you outside in this weather? you'll catch a cold-"
without warning, he rushed forward, wrapping his arms around her small form.
yue sucked in a short breath, her eyes going wide.
she didn't question him, though. she just rubbed his back and let him receive the comfort he needed.
they were soaked, and probably frozen to the core.
but neither felt it; as all they could feel was the other's warmth.
