"where are you going in such a hurry?"

in her rush to put on her shoes, yue hadn't even seen her grandmother walk over.

"i'm just going to meet a friend, halmeoni," yue smiled, hoping this would increase her chances of being able to go.

her grandmother thought for a moment, then nodding, "alright. make sure you're home at a reasonable time, young lady. dinner is at seven, so i suggest it be before then."

yue checked her small watch, seeing it was only 5:30. that gave her an hour and a half to show beomgyu what she wanted him to see.

"ok, halmeoni. bye!" yue walked quickly out of the apartment, finally making her way towards the cafe.

as she approached their designated spot to meet up, she hadn't seen beomgyu. "it's 5:45, isn't it?"

deciding to just wait a bit longer for him, yue sat down on the park bench, rubbing her sweater paws together as an aversion to the cold.

it was already dark outside, and yue felt like she was frozen to the core. she took a look at the time, deciding that maybe he didn't want to come after all.

she couldn't wait any longer, as she would miss curfew. so she grabbed her bag and started on her way home.

even though she tried her best to stay optimistic, and to think that maybe something had come up, the doubt still remained in the back of her mind; she knew he didn't want to come. so why did she think he would?

because i'm stupid, yue kicked at the ground as she wandered slowly down the sidewalk, feeling as if she should've just left him alone in the first place.
