"good morning, yeonjun!" yue waved at the boy who waited for her at the bottom of the steps.
discovering that they actually lived rather close to one another, the two began to walk to school together every morning.
he yawned, before waving back, "morning."
"are you tired?"
he nodded, slowly trudging along the sidewalk, "i stayed up studying for my science test until three."
her eyes widened, "that means you only got two hours of sleep?" he tiredly nodded in response, "ah, this won't do. come on!"
he didn't protest as the dark haired girl pulled him down the street. after a few minutes, they ended up in front of a cafe, the cafe yue used to always go to.
"ah, i haven't been here in forever!" she still held onto his wrist, pulling him up the stairs and into the shop.
"yue, is that you?"
a few customers turned to see if it really was the girl, and waved when they saw her. she had been a regular for so long that most everyone in the shop knew her name and smile well.
yue smiled at them all, before walking up to the counter, "hi chaeun, can i get a-"
"mint frappuccino with extra whipped cream? coming right up," she winked, before waiting for yeonjun's order.
his mind not awake enough to make such decisions, yeonjun just asked if he could have what yue was getting.
the sound of the shop's door closing loudly caught their attention, and yue turned to see who was leaving.
her eyebrows furrowed as she got a glimpse of the chestnut brown hair that she knew so well.
-
"i still can't believe how well stray kids debuted. now that i think about it, i didn't even know jisung was going to debut. is that why he didn't come to school as much?"
yue rolled her eyes, since she had been listening to kai fanboy for over fifteen minutes.
beomgyu walked into the cafeteria, and seeing this as her escape, yue jumped up to go say hi.
"hi beomgyu-"
the boy walked past her without sparing a glance.
she shook it off, maybe he didn't see me.
but what were the odds of that?
-
yue was walking home, kicking at the few rocks that laid in her path. she had been following after beomgyu for some time now, but he hadn't turned around once to say something.
she quickened her pace, finally catching up to him, and they walked side by side for just a moment before he started walking faster.
"beomgyu," yue grabbed his arm in an effort to stop him from going any further. when he turned his eyes to her's, she continued, "why are you ignoring me? i know i'm not the brightest, but i can still tell something is wrong."
he pulled his arm from her grasp, walking away.
"why are you being so rude?"
he stopped, not even sparing a glance over his shoulder as he said his next words.
"how is it being rude when i never wanted to talk to you in the first place? you're just an annoying pest who should learn to take a hint."
after saying what he wanted to say, he left.
her eyes stung with tears, but she refused to cry over something so trivial. people didn't like you, and you would just have to accept it.
but his words stung much worse than any others could have.
