Midnight's POV
It was just an ordinary day on the island of Patch. My big sister, Selene, was just entering her first year at Beacon academy. I had always looked up to my sister, and I wanted to be just like her when I got older. I actually come from a long line of skilled huntsman, she was just keeping the family tradition alive.
When I was just 7 years old I was playing in my backyard while my mom was tending to her garden. I was just messing around with a stuffed bear I had. I loved that old thing. I would play with it, carry it around the house 24/7, and on stormy nights I'd hold it to help me sleep.
I was just playing pretend with my bear when I heard movement come from the woods behind our house. I looked at my mom, then back to the woods. I stood up and began walking towards the forest.
Suddenly, I felt my mom pick me up and bring me back to the spot where I was sitting.
Luna: no no no, sweetie. The woods are too dangerous for you.
Midnight: why?
Luna: because the grimm are out there. You don't wanna the grimm to get you, do ya?
Just then my dad came outside.
Comet: don't bite his head off, Luna.
He walked over to us and ruffled my hair.
Comet: he's a kid. His curiosity is bound to get the better of him every now and then.
His attention turned to me.
Comet: your mom's right though, Midnight. The woods aren't safe for you. Now why don't you just sit here and play with your little bear friend.
I noticed my mom sniffing the air.
Luna: is something burning?
Comet: AW CRAP, THAT'S DINNER!
Both of my parents ran inside to prevent dinner from burning. Meanwhile, I began to hear the noise again. I looked into the forest.
Dad was right, my curiosity got the better of me. I stood up and wandered into the woods. My 7 year old mind didn't really know the difference between danger and safety and kinda just did what it wanted.
As I was exploring, I heard rustling coming from a near by bush. I walked over and knelt down in front of it. A second later, a snake slither out. It stopped and looked up at me.
I tilted my head to the side and it did the same. I tilted my head the other way and it copied me. I then reach out my hand to it, but instead of biting me, I just let me gently brush my fingers against it's scales.
Suddenly, the snake turned it's head around and slithered off in a panic. I then heard an even louder, more menacing hiss come from the bush.
I turned back to it and saw pair of small, glowing, white eyes. I reached out my hand, just to see what it was.
Suddenly, a large snake with purplish black scales and spikes going down it's back jumped out of the bush and bite my hand in-between my thumb and forefinger.
Midnight: AHHHHHHH!
The snake released it's jaws and slithered away. The last thing I remember was grabbing my hand in pain before everything went black.
Taiyang's POV
I was outside just chopping wood. Ruby and Yang were running around playing tag while Summer was watching them. I wiped the sweat from my forehead as I put down the axe I was using.
I picked up the firewood and began taking it over to the place we usually put it. I then stopped in my tracks when I heard a loud scream. The first thing Summer did was look at me.
