Midnight's POV
I followed Ms. Goodwitch to professor Ozpin's office. I had no idea what this was about. Why would the headmaster of Beacon want to see me out of everyone else here?
We both went up an elevator and arrived at Ozpin's office. We approach his desk. He was looking out of the massive clock shaped window he had.
Glynda: Ozpin, I brought the student you asked for.
He turned and looked at me.
Ozpin: thank you, Glynda. Mr. Nox, have a seat.
I sat down in the chair in front of his desk. Ozpin took a sip from his mug.
Midnight: a-am I in trouble, sir?
Ozpin: no, I just wanted to ask you a few quick questions. You come from a long line of skilled huntsmen, am I correct?
I nodded.
Ozpin: alright then, now for the real reason you're here.
Midnight: pretty quick transition.
I was looking over the footage from your initiation and found this.
A screen appeared above his desk and a video began playing. It was me in the Emerald Forest when that Ursa had me pinned to the ground. Suddenly, those swirls appeared on my arms and the color of my eyes inverted, the Iris and pupil turned white and the sclera turned completely black. Triangle shaped marks appeared under my eyes.
I watched as I began to brutally kill those 2 grimm. After I snapped the ursa's neck, I watched as my head slowly turned to look at the camera. I wore a sinister smile that sent chills down my spine.
Ozpin paused the video.
Ozpin: after watching this, I began to look through your records during your time at Signal. From what I found, it seems that you were a well behaved student and never showed any behavior similar to this. Not only that, but during the initiation there was a large serge of energy that occurred right when this happened. The energy felt powerful, almost...demonic.
My eyes widened when I heard that last part.
Umbra: oh no, he's getting suspicious!
Ozpin walked over to me and I began to visibly sweat.
Midnight: how can this guy be so intimidating?!
He suddenly spoke in a demanding tone.
Ozpin: now, I want you to answer me with 100% honesty, ok.
I nodded again.
Ozpin: what's it's name?
Midnight: U-Umbra.
Ozpin: and how long have you know it?
Midnight: u-um, well, I-I just met him last night, but apparently he's been living inside my body for over 10 years.
Ozpin: has this demon tried to get you to do things that would be considered...evil?
Midnight: no sir, we made a deal. I let him stay in my body and he teaches me how to use his power. He's also agreed to not take control of my body unless I give him permission.
Ozpin: hm, well how about you let him take control for a moment?
Midnight: what?
Ozpin: it's only for a few minutes. I wish to have a word with him.
Midnight: o-ok.
I gave Umbra control and those marks appeared again.
Midnight: hello, Ozpin.
Ozpin: it's a pleasure to meet you, Umbra.
Midnight: I wish I could say the same, oh wait, no I don't.
Ozpin: anyway, let's start this discussion.
Ozpin sat down at his desk.
Umbra dawned a cocky smile.
Ozpin: so why did you choose Midnight of all people?
Midnight: I saw potential in him. He seems worthy of my power. The only down side is his ego, he's way too shy and self-conscious.
Ozpin: are there any other demons possessing people in Remnant?
Midnight: don't know, if that's the case I'm surprised. Humans aren't usually worth their time.
Ozpin: then why are you here? If humans aren't worth your time then why come to Remnant.
Umbra froze after hearing that question.
Midnight: I-I don't have to answer to a feeble-minded man like you!
Glynda: you should treat the headmaster of Beacon with more respect.
Midnight: holy crap, I completely forgot you were here.
Ozpin: enough, you can give Midnight control again.
The markings disappeared and I was in control of my body again.
Midnight: I'm so sorry about him.
Ozpin: it's fine, his behavior has nothing to do with you.
Midnight: um, you're not gonna tell my team about this, are you?
Ozpin drew an X over his heart and smiled.
Ozpin: no, your secret's safe with me. You can tell your team when you're ready.
Ozpin got up from his seat and walked over to me. He placed his hand on my shoulder and led me towards the elevator.
Ozpin: as long as you keep that demon under control then everything should be fine. For now, enjoy your time here at Beacon. Now, head back to class, your team is probably wondering where you've been.
Midnight: *sigh* thank you, sir.
He smiled at me as I took the elevator to head back to my class.
Umbra: control me?! PFFFFFFT, nothing can control me.
Midnight: really, cause you can only take control of my body if I give you permission.
Umbra: SHUT UP!
Ozpin's POV
Ozpin: that boy sure is interesting. wouldn't you agree, Glynda?
Glynda: I feel like he's gonna be a handful.
Ozpin: nonsense. That demon made a good decision. Midnight, does have potential to become something great. That demon may have promised to teach him how to use his powers, but think Midnight might just teach him how to be more... human.
Glynda: *sigh*
Ozpin: you should keep an eye on him during combat training. Make sure he doesn't get into trouble.
Glynda: alright then. I'll let you know if anything happens.
