Nina's phone started ringing suddenly. She picked it up only to hear Jin shouting.
"Wait wait," said Nina. "What did you say? I can't hear a thing. Can you speak slower?"
"You forgot that we locked up the Alves in the containment room," said Jin. "Come on, quick, before they break the place down with their shoutings..."
"Oh yeah we completely forgot!" said Nina. "We'll be over in an hour."
"Why an hour?" asked Jin. "Be here in ten minutes!"
"That's impossible!" said Nina. "The journey itself takes like half an hour..."
"Okay fine," said Jin. "Be here as soon as you can!"
They hung up and Nina started panicking.
"You guys better get ready quickly," said Nina. "Katarina, you better think of things to say to Ace. Jin says we better be there as soon as we can."
So they all ran to their rooms and got dressed in casual clothes. They wore dark clothing so that they couldn't really be seen in the dimly lit containment room. They took Steve's car and went to the Zaibatsu. They parked in the parking lot and got out. They went to the 62nd floor and went to the containment room that held the Alves. There was no one about since it was Sunday. They got in and the others were already there. Hwoarang even brought popcorn with him.
"This isn't an action movie, Hwoarang..." said Jin annoyed. "Why did you even bring it?"
"Because it would be fun to watch," said Hwoarang. "You want some?"
"No thanks," said Jin. "Eat it yourself."
"Oh well," said Hwoarang, munching the popcorn. "More for me, then."
They all entered the room and found that the Alves were already awake. They heard the door opening and they turned towards it in surprise and confusion.
"Who are you?" asked Ace. "Why did you bring us here?"
"You don't remember?" asked Katarina. "You don't remember what you did to my father?"
"What did I do to your father?" asked Ace. "Who are you even?"
"Hmm," said Katarina, stepping into the light. "You don't know me?"
"Katarina?!" cried all four of the Alves in unison.
"But why did you bring us here?" asked Fernanda. "We did nothing to your father. It's not our fault that he's missing..."
"Well you didn't, Aunt Fernanda," said Katarina. "But your husband knows more about this than you do..."
"What?" asked Jolina. "Dad what did you do to Uncle Cosmo? He's been missing right? Did you have anything to do with it?"
Ace said nothing and kept silent.
"I believe that Ace did nothing to your father," said Fernanda. "He's a good man."
"Or so you think," said Katarina. "Is there a way to connect to that projector screen? I have the drive with me."
Jin plugged the drive into the computer that was connected to the projector. The video started playing on the screen.
"This footage was taken two years ago in Russia," said Katarina. "Just watch it and then you can support uncle Ace all you want."
The video started playing and they fast forwarded to the part where Ace appeared and busted Cosmo out of there. He didn't look like he was helping Cosmo escape. The Alves watched in surprise.
"Dad is that really you?" asked Jax, surprised. "Did you really do that?"
"How did you know that he entered the tournament and was captured?" asked Katarina, walking over to Ace. "Why did you bust him out and put him under the permafrost?"
"I didn't," said Ace finally. "It was true, I busted him out, but I didn't put him in the permafrost on purpose. It was all an accident."
"What were you trying to do then?" asked Katarina. "How did he end up beneath the permafrost?"
"I wanted to throw him off a high place," said Ace. "But he ended up there instead."
"YOU WERE TRYING TO KILL MY FATHER?!" asked Katarina, shocked and angry. "What did he ever do to you? He always treated you as his own brother, but you didn't?"
"I get that a lot actually," said Lee. "No matter how much I tried to get along with Kazuya as a kid, he always despised me, for some reason..."
"Yes you know how I feel!" exclaimed Ace. "That's exactly how I felt. Cosmo was always the good son, despite being adopted."
"Then you have no reason to do this," said Lee. "Kazuya and me were treated quite badly as kids. That's why we actually hated each other..."
"He could have died in there," said Katarina. "Why were you so heartless?"
"I regretted doing that right after I returned to Brazil," said Ace, looking guilty and tearing up. "I'm sad that Cosmo is gone, he was a very kind fellow. No matter how badly I treated him, he was always kind to me... wish I can see him again."
"Well it's your fault, Ace," said Fernanda. "I can't believe I married such a heartless man!"
"Now there's nothing that can bring him back," said Jolina. "I really miss Uncle Cosmo, you know..."
"Yeah he was really kind to us," said Jax. "How could you do such a thing?"
"I don't know," said Ace. "But everyday, till this day, I can still see him in my dreams, questioning me why I did this. I believe his ghost is haunting me..."
Katarina started laughing. In fact everyone started laughing, with the exception of Ace and his family.
"What's going on?" asked Ace. "Why are all of you laughing?"
"Was our speech that funny?" asked Fernanda. "We are sad too..."
"Oh Uncle Ace," said Katarina, finally. "You're so delusional."
"What do you mean by delusional?" asked Ace. "Being haunted by Cosmo's ghost is not funny."
"The fact is," said Katarina. "He can't haunt you."
"Why?" asked Ace. "He's dead! His soul still haunts me for killing him so heartlessly..."
"Well, that's not true," said Katarina. "He's not even dead!"
"What?!" asked the Alves in unison."
"He didn't die," said Katarina. "Even if he did, he was resurrected. He can't remember a thing that happened while he was missing. He was mutated even more by G Corporation. Now, he's back to normal. He's waiting for me to return to Brazil."
"What?!" said Ace, finally. "He survived? So I've been delusional all these years? I can't believe it! It must've been my guilt haunting me all these years..."
"Well it was," said Katarina. "So I guess you gave yourself a punishment."
"Cosmo is alive?" asked Fernanda. "I'm actually glad that he is. Ace, consider this as your second chance."
"I'm glad that Uncle Cosmo isn't dead," said Jolina. "Where is he? We should go see him..."
"He's at home, back in Brazil," said Katarina. "He's probably wondering why I'm gone so long..."
"You bet he is," said Nina. "Anyway so when are you all gonna go pay him a visit? He really deserves one."
"Yeah we'll go as soon as we can," said Ace. "But you still didn't tell us why you captured us all and tied us up here..."
"The reason is obvious," said Anna. "It's just to show your whole family what you've done."
"You're actually pretty strong, Jolina," said Nina. "You should train with Katarina more often."
"Yeah I always train with her and Uncle Cosmo whenever I was free," said Jolina. "That's how I learned Savate. I usually go to his dojo to learn it."
"Unlike Jax here," said Katarina. "You're always out clubbing..."
"Yeah that's how we managed to abduct you," said Steve. "You were dead drunk yesterday that we didn't even need to give you any sedatives..."
"Yeah it was my friends," said Jax. "I said no because I had to pick up Jolina from the art museum, but they somehow talked me into drinking..."
"If only you didn't," said Jolina. "I was stranded at the art museum you know... no transport, no money, no bus..."
"Sorry about that," said Jax. "I shouldn't have..."
"Um were still tied up here," said Fernanda, suddenly. "Please untie us..."
