I'd say the reader is about 2 months old which translates to about 15 months in humans years then progress to a year.

"Jack look at this sweetheart!" Bitty said as stood in front of a kennel. The small wight puppy stood up on there back paws and place its front on the medal gate. Now why were Bitty and Jack at a animal shelter?, well Bitty convinced Jack to finally adopting a fur baby.
"Oh, this is (Y/N), little fella was found all alone in a park and was brought here, been her for two weeks now and let me tell you there a absolute sweetheart?" The volunteer tells them as you looked up at them.
"What breed are they?" Jack asked.
"We assumed a German shepherd, husky, or a mix?" She tells them.
After a little while they agreed to take you home. Once all the paperwork was filled they took you home and let you free. You quickly took to your surroundings and became a members the family, but as time passed they noticed things.
One, you were always hungry and constantly ate more than the average puppy. Two, as you grew you were supposed to be size of a average dog but you grew slightly larger. Three, you figured out how to open there bedroom door. That was a interesting event. But one thing sold them on the fact that your were not your average dog.
"Your pup howls just like wolf?" Tater points out at a bbq at there place. It hits them like a train. They don't have a dog. They have a wolf.
They looked at you as you played tug of rope with the kids.
"Sweetheart, I think we need to go to the vets after this" Bitty tells Jack as you laid on the porch.
Low and behold you were, in fact, a wolf. The vet said you were most like brought as a pet from outside the state but were eventually abandoned. Then the difficult question was brought up.
"Do you still want to keep (Y/N)?" The vet asked them as you played with a ball.
"Well what are the options?" Jack asked.
"They were raised in captivity, which means they don't have a chance of survival in the while. They can't be released, so best bet would be a sanctuary, but (Y/N) would see people as a necessity and may become depressed without physical contact..." the list went on and neither Jack and Bitty liked the fact they were receiving.
"But you may be able to keep them with the right papers and a few phone calls" the vet finally tells them
"What would the process be?" Jack asked.
"Well (Y/N) surprisingly acts more dog than wolf, there training to listen to commands, and has imprinted on you. With the right paperwork and visits from a specialist you might be able to keep them but there may be a problem" the vet added.
"And that would be?"
"(Y/N) just ate a entire jar of cat treats"
As you all left Bitty looked at you as you walked besides him waging your tail happily. He thinks of all the benefits of you going to a sanctuary but then thinks of all the problems as well. You could be rejected by a pack, you may have trouble learning how to hunt, and if all else fails you could be taken to a zoo, but then you would be stuck in a cage and never go on your daily walks, have unlimited treats and cuddles, or be able to play fetch or tug of war which were your favorite games.
"Are we doing the right thing?" Bitty asked Jack as you sat in the back of there car.
"What makes you say that?"
"I'm wondering if (Y/N) would be happy in a sanctuary and be a normal wolf or sad to forced to be someone your not?"
He tells jack as they pull into there driveway.
"Well I already contacted a landscaper and a specialist so I think its to late to turn back" Jack nonchalantly tells Bitty.
You popped up from the back seat and started wiggle excitedly at the thought of dinner and cuddling. Trying to rush the couple out the car you started whining. Bitty laughed as you bolted out the car door and to your home.
"Yea, it's to late to turn back".
