                          This is one of a crucial part of a piece, mostly in novels. Though there are some novels that are more heavy in narration, let me give a gist on what dialogues can do.

                          1. Dialogues are great to give an information about something or someone.
                          Instead of describing it in a paragraph, you can make a character speak about how he admires the place. It doesn't just save you time, you can also put a bit of a trait of the character. Two birds in one stone, eh?
                          2. Dialogues can show of their characteristics.
                          Mentioned partially above, you can put some known phrases to a specific character. Some memorable piece. And, instead of narrating he is hot tempered, let him shout in the dialogue.
                          3. Dialogues are fun.
                          Let's admit it. We enjoy it. We also like to cite their famous sayings as our motto or simply it just make a ripple in our hearts.
