That is.. until you met Bobby.

The boys were dumbfounded by your short version of your past. You could tell they were unsure whether to fully believe you or not and remained silent drowning in their own thoughts. Dean was the first to speak up.

"So, you expect us to believe that"

You look at him, trying to find a way to not upset him. "No" You told him honestly. "I don't, but Bobby did, and I am extremely grateful for it"

Bobby turned to look at Dean, expecting some smart-ass remark to come fumbling from his lips but nothing came.

"y/n was just like any demon at first" Bobby began, thinking it would help to explain the exact nature of your relationship. "Angry, bloodthirsty, awful. Boy were me and Rufus shocked when the holy water didn't work. We thought maybe we said the prayer wrong or grabbed the wrong water, but nope. Nothing like that worked on her. She wouldn't say a peep about anything. Me and Rufus were trying to decide what to do with her and we thought we would just keep her here, try to extract information about crazy-ass things going on in the world around us"

"Wait she stayed here?" Sam asked.

"Yes. In the very room she lives in now."

"Why didn't we know about her?" Dean now was getting a little upset that Bobby hadn't told him he was keeping a fucking demon in the basement.

"Sam just barely left you and your dad to go to Stanford, and you and your dad were doing who knows what"

"Exactly. Our dad. Do you realize how useful it would have been to have information about Azazel from her? Back before any of the lucifer crap happened?" Dean showed genuine hurt in his eyes as he looked at Bobby.

"Boy, your dad didn't care about y/n when I got around to telling him. He treated her like a piece of shit and I wasn't having any of it. Want to know why your dad stopped coming around here? It was because your demon obsessed dad almost beat the life out of her, and she didn't even bother to fight back so I stepped in" Bobby was angry again, and Dean and Sam both looked at him speechless.

"After the first few months, she finally decided to speak about the things she had done, the people she had hurt, and the horrors she had seen." Bobby looked back to you "I don't know what caused you to break, but you did" You gave him a reassuring smile, encouraging him to continue.  "She got to a point where she would explain just about anything about anything she knew of and it was really resourceful. She started helping me with random cases that I would ask her about and helped translate a lot of books I was keeping around here. One morning I came down and offered her some pie and loosened her restraints and she asked if she thought she could be forgiven. I was dumbfounded to tell you the least, but I told her that I don't know about that side of things, but I do believe you can change. And from that point on she has stayed here." The boys look at Bobby like he was crazy.

" Well, you know, for the most part. It took Rufus some time to get used to, your dad wouldn't hear any of it, Jo & Ellen know, and so do a couple of others here and there." he continued.

The boys looked between Bobby and you with confusion and shock on their faces.

"I need some air" is all Dean said getting up and leaving the room. You all just watched him and pretty soon after Sam followed him outside, leaving you and Bobby alone.

"Well, I thought you did a good job explaining it" You said a sheepish smile on your face.

"I sure as hell hope I did or both of us could end up with a bullet through the brain tonight" you both chuckled at his remark.
