Charlie felt her breath become more and more shaky the closer she got to the living room, and she wasn't even noticed as she approached her mother and Ren talking by the front door. They were talking about something not so serious, laughing and joking around as if the world didn't seem to be crumbling just earlier that day.

She watched as her mom rested her hand on her hip, saying a jokingly protective comment to Ren, who just blushed but in turn said a respectful comment to her. They still hadn't noticed Charlie standing in the entrance of the living room at the end of the hallway, probably due to her not wearing heels that night, and finally deciding to end the awkwardness and get the big part of him seeing her for the first time tonight over with - Charlie cleared her throat.

This caught both Carolyn and Ren's attention, the conversation immediately coming to a complete stop as both of their's necks turned, mouths shutting until Ren saw Charlie standing there, not knowing how to start the conversation. She just stood there, moving her hands from in front of her to her sides, shifting from one foot to another as both her mother and Ren stared at how beautiful she looked.

"Took you long enough!" Carolyn finally decided to start the conversation, after looking over and seeing that Ren was just staring at Charlie in complete shock.

He had absolutely no words. Of course, he knew that no matter what she wore he was going to find her breathtaking, but the way she dressed up - just for him - just took his words away. To him, she was perfect and in that moment all of his words were taken right out of his mouth.

"Sorry, I was just making sure I had everything," Charlie finally replied, taking her eyes off of Ren and looking to her mother. She cleared her throat lightly, finally walking away from the entrance of the hallway and toward the two standing at the front door.

"I'm just giving you crap, we were just messing around while you finished getting ready." Carolyn nudged her daughter, before looking to Ren. "Right?" She then nudged the boy, who ripped his eyes off of the young girl and looked toward her mother, who was giving him a knowing look.

"Right, yeah." He cleared his throat, "Just- juts messing around."

"I'm going to give you guys some privacy, you clearly need some since Mr. Hill can't find his words." Carolyn couldn't help but let out a laugh, only causing the two teens to be even more flustered than before.

Charlie gave her mother a look, to which the older woman just rolled her eyes as she grabbed her phone off of the couch and walked down the hall to her bedroom, shouting one last goodbye before shutting her bedroom door.

By the time Charlie looked back from the hallway and toward Ren, she noticed that he wasn't even paying attention to the now empty hallway, but he was already looking at her again, still mesmerized by how she looked for the night. She couldn't help but blush, but didn't look away because she was too nervous.

"You- you look beautiful, Charlotte." Ren couldn't help but smile at Charlie's immediate reaction to her full name. He shoved his hands in his pockets, watching as she messed with her hands nervously.
