Happy Birthday

“Go Kims!” me and Jisoo shouted at the field, cheering for her cousins when Kai manage a steal from the opposing team

The Kims decided to have a practice game against our university’s competing school during the holidays, since Kai is still here in Seoul and him as their former captain,  their team is already 1 point leading in the five minutes game

“Goal from jersey number one! Kim Jong In!” the crowd loudly cheered when my boyfriend manage again another goal. His teammates high five him one by one before returning professionally in his position, readying himself for defense.

“Kai is really good at this game” Jisoo said, munching a popcorn

“Yeah he is” I answered, averting my eyes from the field when I felt my phone vibrated in my bag

I took it out and saw a message coming from Lisa

Where are you? I can’t see you, there’s too many people around the field

“When will he back to New York?”

“Next week” I answered Jisoo and at the same time typed my reply to Lisa

We’re near the Kim’s bench

She immediately replied

Wait for me there

“After our birthday?”

“No Chu, he won’t be in my birthday”

Honestly, I should be sad after Kai said that night in Thailand he won’t be in my birthday to celebrate it,  it’s reasonable though, his team has a major league and Kai is definitely needed. He plans to have mine and Jisoo’s birthday to celebrate as one, though he still didn’t ask that to his cousins yet.  The Kims always wanted a separate celebration, different parties.

She raises her brow “Why?”

“He has a game”

“Major league?”

“Yep”  I smiled when I saw Lisa from the opposite side, tilting her head around, probably looking for us around the crowd

“Aren’t you sad he won’t be around in your birthday?” she caught me smiling and asked

“No- I mean, I understand him. As much as he want to stay he really can’t, his classes will about to start soon so he needs to go back”

“This is the first time Kai won’t be around in your birthday then” she shrugged, returning in eating the popcorn. The crowd roared again when the opposing team called for a time out. It’s 2-0 now. Kai and his cousins went to their benches

As a girlfriend, I handed him his towel and his usual blue Gatorade

“Thank you” he mumbled. He looked at my hand handing him the towel on his chest “Babe”

“Hmmm?” I looked around and caught Lisa jogs towards us.

“Wipe my sweat for me?" he grabs my hand

“Oh I forgot” I chuckled and wipe his sweat on his face, from his forehead down to his cheeks. His eyes were all over me, then he click his tongue l

“You always wipe my sweat before babe, you forgot?”

“No Kai silly, you’re doing great in your game”

“I’m always good at my games, you weren’t paying attention to me though, you’re just looking at your phone and talking to Jisoo” he pouts his lips “Who are you texting?”
