My parents were my real life superheroes, they were what I aspired to be when I grew up. I wanted to follow in every one of their footsteps and succeed in life just like they did.

The day I realised that they weren't the heroes in the story, instead they were just the civilians, I felt cheated. Everything I hyped them up to be was just a figment of my imagination.

I still hadn't lost any hope in them, I just understood our roles in this world now. No one was perfect, and we had no reason to be.

"Mom?" I asked as I quickened my steps towards the kitchen. Finally, they were actually back.

I ran over to give the both of them a hug, I hadn't seen them in a little over six months. They looked tired, but they seemed happy.

We ordered in takeout and started to eat at the dining table as we talked about the new things going on in our lives. I couldn't help but smile at them both as they kept talking excitedly about their new business ventures.

They hardly stopped to listen about me, but I didn't mind. I was just happy that they were here.

"We're thinking about moving back there permanently," My mother said. She was referring to the place we temporarily moved to when I was 7.

"Y/N, do you want to move back with us?" My father asked, "Then we could have dinners like this every night."

"I- I don't know," I stuttered. I put down my utensils and looked at them.

All of a sudden, there was a knock on our door. I got up from the table and went to check who it was.

"Tommy?" I asked looking at the blond stand in front of my door with only a black hoodie on. He suddenly wrapped me in a hug.

"Don't go, please," He said as he held on to me tighter.

"How did you know?" I asked as my face was still wrapped in his hug.

"Mum just told me," He replied still not letting go of me.

"Tommy I haven't-," I stopped as I heard footsteps approaching us and I quickly pulled away from the warm embrace.

"Oh, Tom! We haven't seen you since forever! What are you doing outside, come in!" My mother said as she waved for him to enter our house.

Tommy walked into the house and towards the kitchen where he saw my father seated at the head of the table.

"Hi Mr L/N," Tommy said awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.

"Oh Tom, no need to be so formal. Come sit boy," My father said pointing to the seat next to mine. Tommy awkwardly walked towards the seat, making his bad posture very noticeable.

I took my seat as well and pushed my plate towards Tommy as I lost my appetite.

"So, Y/N do you want to move with us?" My mother continued as she cut through her KFC with a fork and knife.

I looked at Tommy and noticed that his full attention was on me. He very obviously didn't want me to leave again.

I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to have to choose between Tommy or my parents.

"Could you give me time to think about it?" I asked.

"Sure dear, we'll start moving in two weeks so try to tell us by then," My father replied smiling at me. I knew they would be supportive of my decision even if I chose to stay.

They understood that I was old enough to make my own decision anyway, especially since they had given me so much freedom in life.

We finally changed the subject to me, I rambled on and on about things that had happened these six months. I could still see for my peripheral view that Tommy was smiling while listening attentively to me.

My heart felt full that night. I surrounded by the people I loved the most around me being happy. I savoured the moment while it lasted because I knew that moments like these were rare in my life.

The next day, I woke up with a big smile on my face. However, a little part of me was scared that the previous day was just a dream.

I walked downstairs to see a lively scene, my father seated at the head of the dining table reading his newspaper as he took small sips of his coffee while my mother was seated on his left working on her computer.

The moment I had longed for had finally came, happy could not even begin to describe the feeling I currently felt.

"I wasn't sure what you wanted so I just whipped up some scrambled eggs and sausages," my father said as he saw me approach the table. He gave me a warm smile and pushed forward the warm plate of scrambled eggs with a side of sausages.

"Thank you," I said as I sat down at the table and started to eat. I didn't expect to have breakfast with them, nonetheless I was glad that they were there.

"We're going to check the other house later, you can settle your own dinner right?" My mother spoke up. I nodded my head as I stuffed my face with the delicious food.

I left home much later than I usually did, making sure I at least caught the later bus to school. I put in my earphones and happily skipped my way to the bus stop.

"This u?" *picture of me skipping from the back*

"wtf"

I turned around to see the blue eyed giant smiling straight at his phone.

"Stalkerinnit," I teased. He walked closer to me and rolled his eyes as he turned off his phone.

When we got to school, we separated into our individual groups. It was sad, I wanted to join him but I knew he didn't like it when too much of the spotlight was on him.

"Y/N why were you so late?" Izzy asked as I walked over to my group of friends.

"Family stuff," I said as I took my seat. We chatted about her birthday party that she was holding this weekend.

"Who do you want me to invite?" Izzy asked as she took out her phone to check the excel sheet she had made for the list of people she invited to her party.

"I don't know, it's your party do what ever," I said looking at her long list of participants.

"I invited Aiden to my party," she said with a hint of caution in her tone.
