Chapter 40

Chaeyoung 

"Chaeyoung, I can still find another artist to design the shirts…" 

Tzuyu insisted again. She keeps on mentioning that she can still find someone else to design the shirt. 

"Why? I'm already here. It's okay. I can do it." 

I assured her. 

Besides, this is also my way of paying her. 

She looked at me, and when I looked back she avoided my gaze. 

Ah, she's too tall. 

"Should we eat first?" 

I asked when I felt like I'm already starving. We just finished buying the white clothes in another store. 

We bought cheaper ones but possess good quality. 

"Yeah, sure." 

Tzuyu agreed and walked towards the restaurant. 

"Tzuyu." 

I called. She stopped and turned around to look at me. 

"Let's eat somewhere else." 

I said and pointed the Fast Food Chain across. Restaurant is a bit expensive. 

Tzuyu creased her forehead but still nodded. 

I went to order food and fall in line. There's a lot of customers today since it's week end.

"So you're dating her?" 

I was surprised to hear Mina from behind.

I turned around to face her. 

"No. We're here to eat."

I answered and smiled at her. It's already my turn to order so I turned back to the cashier. 

I didn't look back at Mina after that. 

"Hey Tzu. You starving? 5 mins more 'til our orders will be served." 

I said. Tzuyu just nodded and looked outside. It went quiet. 

When I'm with Tzuyu, I'm more talkative than her. 

Few minutes later, our order got served. 

"Uh.. Excuse me? I only ordered for two people?" 

I said. I didn't order spaghetti and a burger. 

"That's mine. No vacant seat. Maybe I can join?" 

Mina uttered and sat in the middle.

"Sure, of course." 

I answered and started preparing Tzuyu's food. I unwrapped the rice and placed it on her plate. 

"She has hands."

I heard Mina murmuring. 

"I can do it Chaeyoung." 

Tzuyu said and got the food. She placed some on her plates. 

We started eating and I can see that Tzuyu is uncomfortable. I can also see that she's struggling eating using the disposable utensils so I excused myself to get a stainless spoon and fork. 

When I went back, I snatched Tzuyu's disposable utensils and handed her the new one I got. 

"Use that."

I said and started eating again. It was quiet the whole time we're eating 'til Tzuyu's phone rang. 

She doesn't want to answer it but Mina said she should answer. So she excused herself and we were left behind. 

"Jeongyeon and I----" 

I cut Mina off before she could give me any information. 

"STOP. I don't want to know." 

I said without looking at her. 

Sometimes, it's better not knowing what's going on with someone who became special to you. 

Maybe I'm afraid I will still care if I know something's up.

Maybe I'm also afraid that once I know something, the therapies I've been through will be wasted.

I don't want that. I'm not fully human yet. 

"I'm excluded from what happened, what's happening and what will happen to the both of you. It's fine. You don't have to tell me." 

I said again. Mina got quiet. Tzuyu didn't come back yet. 

"But you're included. You're always part of the situation, Chaebae."

Damn. The only word I heard is the last part. 

No, the last word just hits differently.

Chaebae. 

It keeps on replaying. Good thing Tzuyu came back already. 

Mina still holds a great effect on me. 

In my heart. 

"Uh.. I need to go. Something came up." 

Tzuyu said when she went back. She called the crew and asked if the crew can wrap up her food. 

One thing about Tzuyu, no matter where she's eating, or what she's eating.. 

She will never let it go to waste. 

"Sure, you can just go. Drive safe."

Mina said and waved her hand. 

"Uh. I mean, please don't drive." 

She rephrased what she said and started eating again like she didn't say something. 

"Wait Tzu, I'm almost finished." 

I said when the crew went back and handed Tzuyu the food. 

"No Chaeyoung, it's okay. You can - - -" 

I cut Tzuyu off. We went here together, we should leave together too. 

"No, let's go. Thank you for today Mina. Take care." 

I gave my Goodbyes to Mina, her attention was on my hand, holding Tzuyu's. 

I grabbed Tzuyu gently. I looked like a kid next to her even though we're the same age. 

She's even younger than me for a few months but she's too tall. 

I caressed my chest when we're already inside the Taxi. 

Mina, you'll always hold a big part of my heart. 

I almost gave in. 

Good thing, I'll be doing Talk Therapy with Dr. Kim tomorrow. 

I sighed and looked at Tzuyu. 

I noticed her head bumping on the edge of the car, she fell asleep, I guess. 

I guided her head unto my shoulder. She's tall so it looks like she's lying with a pillow. 

I held Tzuyu's head when she woke up on my shoulder. 

"It's okay. Just sleep." 

Few minutes after that, she's already breathing heavily. 

I leaned my head unto her and closed my eyes. 

Today is exhausting.
