hand in hand with glenn, marcella ran, the rest of the group around her.

the men tried to shoot, smash and destroy the glass walls of the cdc, but doctor carter knew that it wouldn't work.

"stop! it won't work! they're too strong!" she told them, practically in a cry.

"rick, i have something that might help." carol began to shuffle through her backpack as she walked over to rick.

carter put an arm around sophia as to comfort her.

"carol i don't think a nail files gonna do it." shane disregarded her.

"your first morning at camp, when I was washing your uniform, I found this in your pocket." carol brought out a grenade that sat in her shaking hand.

"look out!"

the group ran to the stairs to take cover as rick triggered the grenade.

to the entire group's joy, the grenade shattered a wall of glass, leaving a large gap in the cdc, meaning they could escape.

as the group ran through the grass that was decorated with corpses, active and inactive ones, marcella took her first breath of fresh air in long while. although the world wasn't as pretty as it used to be.

the young scientist held her gun up ready to shoot anything that came too close, however not wanting too as she knew that that would draw attention.

but as rick and shane began to shoot the blood thirsty beings, she did too and marcella had surprisingly good aim.

the young girl could've puked when she saw daryl literally slice a dead man's head off, however she managed to hold it in.

as the group reached the cars, doctor carter hesitated, realising that she hadn't been invited to join their group, however before she could turn around to leave glenn pushed her into a car.

"wait, wait, wait! they're coming." lori pointed out dale and andrea leaving the cdc.

rick began beeping the horn and lori shouted for the pair to get down as they was a few seconds away from the dreaded time.

rick then ordered everyone in the campervan to get back and before anyone could say or do anything else, the cdc had exploded right infront of the group.

as she looked at what remained of the cdc, doctor marcella carter was no longer a scientist, she was no longer doctor carter.

all she was anymore was marcella, a surviver.
