I was walking into the dining hall when Jo Frost grabbed my arm, pulling me towards her table. When we sat down she looked at me quite excitedly. "Well isn't that a surprise? He was so scoping you out." She chuckled, her eyes had a look of jealousy.

"Huh? Who? What you on about?" She smirked.

"Leighton, stupid!"

I looked at her in shock. "No, he was just being friendly."

She smirked again. "I've been here since the beginning. Never has he smiled at anyone like that."

My heart fluttered. "Shut up! Seriously?"

"Yeah serious! That was one sincere smile he gave you."

She was just messing with me. There was no way. I looked at her the excitement gone out my eyes "Look at him. Look at me. There's not a chance in hell! Your just having me on." I got up from the table and walked off.

I heard her shout at me from a distance, "I am looking at you. We'll see, hon. I saw it, he smiled at you." As I looked behind at her, I walked into something solid, but firm, when I turned round there he was, Leighton Cross. I had stupidly walked into him while not looking where I was going.

I looked up and he spoke, his voice was so smooth, so rich in tone "Whoa! Slow down, pretty woman." Oh that voice, how it buckled my legs from right underneath me. Mmmmmh, speak again.

"Sorry."

He smiled again. "Don't be. I'm not." and he walked into the dining hall.

I grabbed the door quickly as it was closing, the halls were emptying now so I decided to head in the direction of somewhere a little more quieter.I walked straight into the toilet, I went in a cubicle and locked the door behind me.

I sat there shaking, concentrating on the graffiti on the walls to calm me down. This isn't happening this really isn't happening. But it was. Oh crap he spoke to me. Ok Gracie, calm yourself down chill out. I let out a little involuntary giggle. If anyone was in the next cubicle they're going to think I'm mad. Oh well at this moment I didn't care.

I walked out the cubicle and washed my hands before walking back into the dininghall. I needed to speak to Jo.

As I opened the door, I saw her still sitting at the same table, eating, I walked over and I could feel eyes on me, however I never looked up. I got to the table sitting down at the exact seat I left moments ago. Jo looked up from her plate.

"What's up, sweet cheeks."

I smiled, "Did you mean what you said about Leighton, or is it all a joke? She shook her head, so I carried on. "I've been tormented, bullied and jeered at my whole life. It could all just be a joke he's playing."

I looked down at my hands. Jo, put a hand under my chin forcing me to look up at her. "I don't joke about things Gracie. I always tell my friends the truth. I think he likes you. I haven't seen him smile at any other girls. It seemed like a genuine smile don't you think?"

I kept looking at her. She said friend? "Friends?"

She laughed, "Yes, friends. Why do you think I ask you to sit with me?" I rolled my eyes.

"I just thought you felt sorry for me being a loner."

Jo, laughed."Stupid! I like you, stop putting yourself down. I think you're smart and beautiful. I think Leighton see's that too."

I felt a tad embarrassed. I knew for sure my cheeks were going red. "Are you a lesbian?" She threw her head back in guffaw's of laughter. She laughed so hard and loud. I mean really loud, I could see people looking round, one of those people was Leighton. He smiled again.
