There was a pounding on my door. "Gracie please open the door." It'd been three days since I spoke to my parents, the only time I sneeked out was when I knew they were either asleep or once they left for work... I was numb. I couldn't sense myself through all the pain I was feeling inside.

It seemed I was going insane. I had to get out of here. I'll leave when Mum leaves. I'll run away if I have to. I'll join a circus or something, I don't care. Anything but go to America.

More knocking on my door! "Gracie, I'm going to work. Please at least come out get a drink when I go. I know you don't want to talk to me"

I didn't say a word. Damn right I don't want to talk to her! She's about to ruin my life, and does she care? Hell no! I heard the front door click shut, so I grabbed a bag and shoved some clothes in it before going down.

I grabbed some food and drink and went out the door. It was warm with a slight breeze. I loved the feeling of the breeze blowing gently in my hair.

I had been cooped up for three days, and the fresh air was what I needed right now to clear my head. Maybe Jo would kidnap me, or my knight in shining armour would rescue me at the last minute. I wasn't holding my breath.

I walked and walked, but the more I walked the more it felt like I was going around in circles. I slumped down by a tree.

"There you are!"

I looked up and saw Taylor and Evie. I just burst out crying "Get her in the car, Taylor!" Evie spoke with real authority. Taylor cradled me like a baby and carried me to the car.

I was so worn out from the past three days, I dozed off. When I woke up it was dark out. I rolled over to see Jo looking at me, she stroked my face.

"Hey, how you feeling?" I burst into tears and Jo just held me.

"Please, Jo, don't let them take me away, I can't bear the thought of not seeing you for a year." She hugged me tighter.

"Shush, Gracie we're trying,"

"Why haven't you been in a school? I missed you the other day"

"It's complicated. We have been away trying to sort stuff out. Your Mum told my Mum the other day about your dad's promotion, and well my Mum was devestated. But your Mum has assured her that it was only for one year and they would be moving back here straight away. Deep down we knew you wouldn't want to go, so my Mum went to see Simone about getting a licence for you to stay here with us."

I looked at her in bewilderment "What's a licence for?"

"A licence is a document saying you're human and you will be taken care of by us. But it's not as easy as it sounds. The only way we got around it was saying you're Leighton's soulmate. Aperently, if you're someones soul mate they have every right to stop you from leaving the country. But we both know he would wait for you, and never make you choose. Simone thought it might be best if we put it across to your parents that you would be breaking the law."

I laughed "So in other words your gonna lie? I thought you lot weren't allowed to lie." She nodded her head.

"We aren't allowed to, but I can't lose you. The thought of not seeing you for a whole year would drive me crazy. As a vampire we can technically wait forever for someone, but you make me feel alive. You are my soul, my second heart. Now it's trying to find a way of putting it to your parents without them getting angry, or upset." I smiled.

I would miss them, no doubt about it. I love them to bits. but as time goes on I will learn to cope. I've made a life of my own here. it was the only way.

"We best go down then, they're here." I nodded, I wasn't looking forward to this, My Mum's gonna cry, then she will make me cry. It's the last thing I need.
