Warnings; kinda short, heaving fluff, insecure reader (I can relate), sensitive reader

My biggest competition was my best friend, the biggest competition when it came to gaining every last bit of love from the well-known Luke Skywalker. I'm sure she didn't know me and Luke were together so why would she fret her pretty like face.

I loved Leia, don't get me wrong, but the kisses she gave Luke on the cheek and the hugs that lasted a little longer than they should've screwed with my head. Hearing her sweet giggle echo through the hangar when alone with Luke absolutely broke me, my fear of abandonment flowing through my veins. Jealousy filled my eyes with tears, I knew the hurt all too well. Luke would never cheat but I never knew what type of power's Leia had. She was beautiful in every way, a true goddess of the times. She was the definition of gorgeous and was once a Princess. As I saw myself, I was the definition of garbage. I was a filthy droid mechanic for kriffs sake.

I knew Luke harbored feelings for me, maybe not to the extent that I did him, but he showed care. Sometimes, he'd visit me while I was repairing a droid, or specifically Artoo, and he'd let me hold his face with dirty hands, letting me leave my mark on him. He'd flaunt the dirty hand print like it meant everything to him. But, I still couldn't get it out of my head, hearing about the one time Leia had kissed Luke before and it broke me down, my insecurities getting to me like they were now.

It was a normal day, the sunlight shining outside in all it's glory and I, I was fixing Artoo. Luke had gotten in some trouble with a bunch of TIE fighters (like usual) and Artoo was the only reason he managed to get out of there alive. I respected the confidence that the droid had, but he needed knew parts constantly, though I provided. I heard the sound of boots walking down the halls of our base along with female and male banter.

I recognized the voice, the sound of Luke and Leia chatting, a sound that often made my heart pound out of my chest with the small handfull of fear that scratched at the back of my brain. They stopped in front of my workshop door, Leia hugging Luke in a way that seemed more like an embrace. My eyes became glossy, my teeth clamping onto my bottom lip as I bit away jealousy tears.

As Leia let go, Luke walked in, examining me while I repaired Artoo. I hide my face, my tears, the red cheeks from holding back my sobs. It was quiet between me and Luke, as lif he almost wasn't there. "What's wrong, you're not excited that I'm here?"

"She's better than me, you should be with her," I said, setting down my wrench, squeezing my eyes shut to keep the water in.

Luke walked up behind me and turned me away from the droid, making me look into his eyes. He placed his soft hands on my cheeks, staring into my eyes. He looked hurt, like I smashed his heart in two. "What do mean, Y/n? There's not woman that is better than you, what are you talking about?"

"Leia, she's.. she's beautiful and sweet and perfect. She's everything I'm not. I'm just a stupid mechanic!" I ranted, crying. Luke wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer and letting me wet his shirt. He kissed my head, petting my hair with feathery fingers. "Y/n Y/n Y/n, I don't think you see what I see."

"What do you see?" I asked, muffling my words into his chest.

"I see this yellow star that shines brighter than any other in the sky. You're so gorgeous my dove, it's like staring at the scenery in Naboo. You're so alive, my darling. Your smile could brighten a pitch black room and your eyes, they dance when you're happy. I love those dancing eyes. Your skin, it's like it was blended to perfection, clear and soft on my fingertips. Your lips feel like I'm kissing a cloud, they melt me. And your personality, the humor that lives inside of you fills me with the same joy. You're more than a droid mechanic, you're a Princess in your own way. My Princess, and I would have it no other way. I've never been so in love with a living thing, you are worth more than the whole galaxy to me. I love you."

I sniffled in Luke's arms, responding with a quiet, "I love you too. I just can't lose you."

"You never will, my little Skywalker."
