James's POV

Riley spent the rest of the school day ignoring me. I couldn't talk to her without her turning my back to me. I couldn't touch her without be flinched away. But here we are, at the end of the day, driving home in my truck.

I didn't think she would let me bring her home, but it was raining and cold out so I guess sitting in the truck with me for twenty to twenty five minutes was just a step up.

It has been almost ten minutes, and not a word has been spoken. Riley hasn't turned her head from the window, and keeps her arms crossed in a displeased way.

"I can't believe you told them." Riley suddenly says. "You promised me you wouldn't say anything!"

"I didn't straight out tell them. They kind of just got it out of me." I reply.

"And how did they 'just get it out of you'?" She questions.

"I was trying to stand up for you and it kind of slipped out." I reply, ashamed. I kept driving, until I heard her reply,

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?" I ask.

"For overreacting and getting mad at you." She says quietly.

"Ah, don't worry about it. I don't stress about West and Eldon either, they're just idiots." I tell her, grinning broadly at her. She smiles shyly back.

"Want to come in for a bit?" She asks when I pull up into her driveway.

"Is your dad home?" I ask, turning to her. She smirks.

"Not for another couple hours." She replies, touching my chest.

"Well than, how can I say no to that?" I ask.

••••••••••

Riley and I lay together on her bed, panting hard, our bare bodies pressed up together under the covers. I was on my back, Riley's chest laying on mine, her hand pressed there as well. I ran my fingers over Riley's bare back, tracing random patterns.

"I love you." Riley says, kissing my chest.

"I love you too." I reply, kissing her head.

"So, I was thinking. I know that you don't want to go to the prom Friday night, but it might still be fun." I tell her carefully.

"I know, but I really don't want to go James." She replies.

"I know that, but still." I reply.

"If you want to go, you can. But you'll be going alone." She tells me. I sigh. This was going to be harder than I thought.

"Okay, okay. We can spend the night together instead." I say. She smiles up at me.

"I like that idea." She says, reaching up and giving me a kiss. I kiss back, but pull away quick with a smile.

"Now, how long did you say that your father will be working?" I ask.

"Until late tonight." She replies.

"Good." I say, crashing my lips into hers and rolling us over again.
