"I'm sorry for the outburst." Therese apologized while rubbing Celine's back. Overlapping voices assured her that she was okay. Therese was clearly tired, but was more than happy to talk with everyone, especially when two of Celine's siblings rushed in. Now that she knew her mom was safe, she didn't have it in her to stay awake. She gave in to her exhaustion, sinking down in the normally uncomfortable chair and slipping into a much-needed sleep.
Therese
Once her husband had left to get a snack since the damn doctors didn't want to give her anything this late at night, Therese watched Rene as he slipped a pillow under Celine's neck. He checked on Therese's other children and made sure everyone was comfortable and had what theyneeded to feel safe. But he always went back to Celine. When Celine woke, he was there with a few basic necessities and a smile. Therese recognized the love in that smile. She could see how much Renecared for her daughter, even if Celine couldn't. And for a moment, she was happy Celine couldn't. A year prior, Therese had a conversation with Rene to remind him of the age difference and how inappropriate anything between them would be. Celine should have been a child in his eyes and Therese hated the idea of more even potentially happening. Now, with this sudden clarity ... Well, she wouldn't apologize for that conversation or the fact that she was sure it factored into him running to Las Vegas for a year to clear his head.
