"We all danced with her! It's not a big deal." Jean-Pierre hisses. "Patrick and I were both closer with her than you've been all night and she's your guest. If this is how you were going to behave, you shouldn't have invited her." Rene rubs his forehead. He doesn't want to talk about the things Denyse said while they were dancing. How she happened to mention how Celine looks at him, how easily he could get in trouble with a girl like her if he's not careful. When he hadn't said anything, she'd hinted that they had a relationship, that he'd seducedinnocent little Celine or flipped that Celine was using Rene to get more time and connections andvault her career. Everything she had said had been wrong and horrible until he just dismissed the whole thing, saying what was the point of speaking up against such vicious and ridiculous lies. Denyse had laughed and agreed, but said he should still be careful in case someone got the wrong idea and told the press. With both of his sons demanding an answer, he can't resist the truth anymore. Sighing he shakes his head. "Denyse talked about something going on between me and Celine. There was a threat in there and I didn't want to make tonight terrible for her." Jean-Pierre scoffs. "You did that yourself." Rene remembers her hurt face, the way she'd jerked back as if he'd hit her. All she wanted was a dance. All she had wanted was time with him. She'd talked with the team from work – something he still hadn't done. She'd mingled, she'd danced with his sons and he couldn't even offer her a real dance together. He rubs his eyes hard. "I need to apologize."
