"I know how things are between you two." Anne-Renee continues. "I remember seeing you two together. What happened." "Now isn't the time." Rene huffs. "Now is the time for planning what you're going to say to her. Get through the evening, but prepare to fix this, Rene." He shakes his head. "I think I should leave." "Do you know where she went?""Home, probably." "Let her deal with her feelings now. Take care of the party on your end, then you can go to her tomorrow. You'll be able to talk it out with her, or at the very least, me." Rene sighs. He just wants to be left alone, but Anne-Renee refused to accept that. She leads him inside and forces him to mingle. When someone asks if he's okay, he just says he's exhausted. Another hour passes and eventually everyone makes their way home. Denyse waves to Rene. "This was a great party! Thanks for having us, so much fun!" He can't wait for her to be on her flight, miles high and away from him. Rene just sits in a chair, holding his huge cell phone in hand. He could call Celine right now. What does he have tolose? He fumbles the keys the first time, but gets it right on the second attempt. It goes right to voicemail – not at all like her. When was the last time they didn't talk all night before bed? He ends the call. There's no point in talking to an answering machine right now.
