Rene finishes another round of paperwork and looks at his watch. He groans and rubs his head. He failed to keep his word. He promised to see Celine the night she returned, tonight, and yet he's still at the office, just like he will be tomorrow because the music industry doesn't come with a forty hour week. Before Celine he never wanted it to. Before Dublin, he enjoyed the long hours since it meant more time with her. Now, it seems to keep them apart constantly. Hardly fair when all he can think about is her. But she's doing well. She sold out on tour twice which is a statement to her promising future and validates the pride he's had in her since the beginning. She's achieving what most girls only dream about and she's doing it with a sophistication and class that even fewer famous people have. She's an astounding anomaly – even more so considering she sees him the way she does. And here is he is, doing the boring paperwork and office job that highlights their differences. He'll never be on stage – never wants to be – and will always have something that demands his attention other than Celine. He groans and shakes his head. He tries to call Celine when he gets home, but isn't able to get through. The line is busy. So he falls asleep for the first time in over two weeks without talking to her all day. The next day, he's at the office again, shoveling paperwork into his various piles as necessary. He rubs theback of his neck when a soft knock on the door draws his gaze up. His neck protests, but there's Therese, not Celine. Celine doesn't knock. He should have known. Therese comes in, closing the door behind her and Rene prepares himself for a conversation he's definitely not ready for.
