She wasn't going to apologize for wanting someone more age appropriate for her daughter, but she couldn't deny that he would be good for her. Therese was glad he'd been there when he was and that he'd stayed to help Celine. His support, the fact that he never let Celine think more of his intentions, though he and Therese knew better, and his willingness to be around Therese knowing her feelings for him proved his worth and strength as a man of honor. Which meant they needed to have a different conversation soon. Therese considered asking for a private moment with him, but exhaustion was starting to weigh heavy on her shoulders. She reclined back in the chair and hummed softly. Rene went to her side immediately. "Therese, is there something I can do?" "Send everyone home. I don't need them here to watch me sleep and recover." "Celine won't want to leave-""Convince her." Therese arched an eyebrow. "I'm sure you're able to handle that. No oneneeds to be here right now." Rene relayed the news and slowly convinced Therese's family to head home. Celine was the hardest, but she was tired, not sleeping well, and unable to resist Rene, as Therese expected. Which meant she could settle into her bed and wait for the donut her husband was going to bring her. The rest of the world could wait a few more days for her.
