Amara's POV

He didn't return that night. How did I know? I may or may not have stayed up to see how late he came back, but that ended up with me staying up all night. A night he didn't show up.

Was I worried? No. Maybe. I have no clue. I just wanted to know why he's not back yet.

Do I call his father? No, that would be a mistake. Do I call him? That's a good idea.

"You've reached Luca Peretti. Leave a voicemail."

Shit.

There has to be a good reason why he's not back yet. There is no need to worry, he's a grown man, he can take care of himself.

I've decided to not worry about it any longer and spent the day at the pool. Which I have to admit was relaxing that I didn't have to hear Luca yelling in Italian inside the house.

I sat on a floatie, a drink and a book in my hand, soaking in the afternoon sun. I cooked myself dinner and ate peacefully by myself.

Was there a twinge of worry inside me as I ate? Yes. It's been two whole days and that was enough time for him to return.

I washed the dishes and sat on the couch, turning on the tv and eating a bowl of ice cream.

Headlight's shone through the window, lighting up the living room. I jumped from my spot and put down the bowl, running out of the house and toward where Luca got out of the car.

"Don't even start." He held up his hand.

"Where the fuck have you been?!" I shouted, coming up to punch him to the ground.

But as he walked, he held his rib cage, limping to get away from me.

"What happened." I whispered, going up to him and removing his hand.

"Nothing, Amara It's fine." He said, still trying to walk up to the house. He walked up one step but couldn't and fell over.

I was right behind him and caught him, taking half his weight on my body.

"Fuck, Luca." I gasped, "That's a bullet wound."

"It's fine, just go to bed." He hissed out, trying to push me away as he walked up the steps.

He got up the rest of the way and opened the door, walking into the pitch darkness.

"Stop being insane." I said to him, stepping in front of him and removed his hand once more.

When I looked up to meet his eyes, he was already staring at me, exhaustion showing on his face.

I grabbed him by the hand and sat him on the couch, running to the bathroom and grabbing the medical supplies.

"Amara, don't" He muttered as I took out the bandages.

"Shut up." I spat, lifting up his shirt.

It looked like the bullet had gone through the other side, which was a good thing and I started to clean the wound.

"Fuck." He groaned, throwing his head back.

"Keep still." I said, now leaning down on my knees in front of the couch.

I did my best cleaning it up, but he couldn't keep still as I tried to get around it.

"Amara, just stop." He yelled, "I'll do it myself."

"No you are not." I said, pushing him back down, he groaned again as I finished cleaning the wound, putting the bandage on when I was done.

He was staring at me once again, his eyes fully trained on me as I got up.

"There, that wasn't so bad wa-" I didn't finish my sentence when he pulled me down on top of him, smashing his lips against mine.

I froze for a second but after he moved his lips, I kissed him back, moving my body to straddle him by the hips.

His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer as my hands went to his hair, tugging against his brown locks.

I moaned into his mouth as he pulled me closer, his strong arms securing me in place.

We both quickly pulled away at the same time, our chests moving up and down rapidly as our breathing sped up.

I got off of him and backed up. He cleared his throat and I packed up the bandages.

He got up too, his eyes not meeting mine.

I glanced at him and we both walked to our bedrooms, muttering a quick goodnight.
