Emily's POV:

We finally arrive at the local P.D. We are met by some officers as we exit our SUVs.

"Agent Jareau, Gregory Hughes," an older man introduces.

"Mayor Hughes," JJ shakes his hand.

"Yes. This is detective Rick Ware from the state police department. We haven't had a murder here in two years, you understand. This was way above our heads. So we put Rick in charge," Mayor Hughes explains his actions.

"These are agents Gideon, Hotchner, Morgan, and Prentiss," she points as we quickly become acquainted with names.
I have to say that what's been happening here the last few weeks is—it's just hard to fathom. I mean, we're just thirty minutes from the city," Hughes rambles.

"What do you mean," Hotch wonders.

"Well, this isn't the Deep South. For the most part, these are sophisticated New Yorkers," the detective answers.

"Are you saying you don't think is this a race issue?" Morgan quizzes.

"All we're saying is that whatever happened here is way out of the norm for this community. I wouldn't want you entering this investigation under the assumptions that—well, aren't true," the detective seems thorough, equipping us with valuable information.

"Fact is, we don't know what this is about yet," Gideon speaks for the first time.

"We need to get a lead on the double murders and make sure that it's the same killer first of all," Hotch adds.

"You mean there could be more than one?" An unnamed man asks.

"We don't know that yet. All we do know is the threat sent to Sandra Davis was written by an adolescent girl," Morgan doesn't confirm any suspicions.

"You can tell that just from half a page note?" The detective questions.

"It's pretty straightforward profiling," Morgan states this even though it was Reid who found it.

"Is there a problem officer?" Gideon asks, another officer had appeared and began looking at us in an unusual manner.

"Uh, there was a girl that we suspected at first, but then we talked to her and dismissed her," he stutters, he seemed nervous.

"I'd like to meet her," Morgan states.

"I think its a waste of time," the detective says rudely, my earlier thoughts of him change.

"I'd like to decide that for myself," Morgan testifies.

We walk inside the building, escaping the blaring heat. Morgan and I follow the detective to get further insight on the investigation.

"Sandra showed us the note two weeks before she was killed. We asked around the school for who might have a grudge against Sandra and Ken. The only girl's name that came up was Tonya Mathis. Rumor was that Ken dumped her for Sandra, although Ken told me Tonya was never his girlfriend," I find it weird that there were to different point of views from something as a relationship.

"You said you talked to Tonya about the note. What'd she say?" Morgan asks.

"She swore up and down she had nothing to do with it. I find it pretty hard to believe she'd write a racist note," he seems dead-set on proving Morgan wrong.

"Why's that?" I ask blatantly.

He opens the door to where Tonya was, we had called for her earlier.

"See for yourself," he responds.
