A/N - This chapter is based on the song 'Freedom' by Wham! I hope you all enjoy it.

The first time you had seen your own picture plastered on the front of one of those stupid gossip magazines, you'd been a little flustered. Sure, you had known that with Tony being one of the most famous superheroes/philanthropists in the world, you would get some attention, but you had never expected a journalist to have taken the time to research you.

They'd taken time to look into your past, listing off your achievements as though they were your mother, bragging to her friends over tea.

- High School Valedictorian.

- Graduated from MIT at the top of her class.

- Spent a year in Syria with a non-profit: designing and building shock proof, sustainable housing for families that had lost their homes.

- Youngest new hire at Stark Industries since Tony Stark himself.

- Started dating her new boss and started being led towards the dark side.

It seemed that the journalist had a lot of opinions on your life choices so far. And now that you and Tony had made your relationship public knowledge, they'd made it very clear that they thought you were making a mistake.

Tony had found you that evening, curled up on his sofa with the magazine in your hands. Your brow had been furrowed so tightly that he had felt his stomach turning over.

"What's up?"

You glanced up, your expression softening as your eyes landed on him. "Half of the stuff in here isn't even true," you muttered, dropping the magazine onto the seat beside you. "They're trying to make me look like some sort of perfect saint," you pressed on. "And apparently, you're leading me astray," you added with a soft sigh.

"Maybe they're right," he hummed, slumping onto the sofa opposite you as you sat up a little straighter, eyes fixed on him. "I'm not exactly a good influence, am I?"

You tutted at his comment, shaking your head. "In the time that we've been together, what have you done that could be considered bad?" He shrugged at your comment. "You're a hero, Tony. And just because you were a little wild when you were younger doesn't mean they get to paint you as a bad guy."

"But-"

"No buts," you interrupted him, shaking your head. "I wouldn't be dating you if I thought you were a bad person, you know that."

Tony's entire body visibly relaxed at your comment, a soft sigh slipping out of him. "I know," he confirmed with a small nod.

"Okay," you hummed out, replicating his nod as you offered him a sweet smile. "So will you please get over here and cuddle with me? I don't like you sitting all the way over there," you told him, making grabby hands in his direction until he let out a snort of laughter and pushed himself up out of his seat to join you.

He pulled the magazine into his lap as you pulled your legs up, huddling close into his side. "At least they got one thing right."

"Hmm?"

Tony prodded at the note under one of the pictures, grinning to himself. The long term playboy looked love-struck walking hand-in-hand around Manhattan with his new girlfriend. You chuckled as you read the words, turning your head to press a kiss to his shoulder.

"Long time playboy, huh?" you murmured, snorting with laughter when he wrapped his arm around you, dragging you closer into his side. You bit down on your lip as you glanced up into his face. "Hey Tony?" He hummed as he looked down at you, waiting for you to continue. "I love you."

He hesitated for a moment, looking a little lost at your confession. You'd never said it before. No moment had ever felt right until now, and suddenly you weren't so sure you made the right decision.

Tony sighed, a small frown on his lips and you smile quickly faded. "I wanted to say it first," he told you, his voice soft as he lifted his hand to touch your cheek. "Wanted to tell you 'I love you' in some big romantic way."

"You are such a prick," you yelped, shoving him slightly as you lurched forward to bury your face into his chest, listening to him chuckle above you.

"Yeah, but you love me anyway." You sent him a playful glare as you pulled away, biting down on the inside of your cheek in an attempt to stop yourself from laughing along with him. "Hey, Princess?" You lifted an eyebrow, nodding for him to continue. "I love you too."
