A/N - This chapter was inspired by the song 'Black Sheep' by Metric. The version I was listening to whilst writing is the Brie Larson Vocal Version from the film Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. I hope you all enjoy it.

Bucky Barnes had been sitting in the exact same spot every day since he had come to Wakanda. Every evening, at exactly 20:56, he would come wandering out of the little hut he'd been assigned, and he would perch himself on one of the rocks overlooking the lake. It's not like you could blame him. For someone who had spent most of his life in captivity, both in the real world and in his own head, the sunset over the water must have been hypnotizing. Hell, it was breathtaking enough when you'd seen it as many times as you had, let alone when it was a completely new view.

If he had noticed you watching his nightly routine, he'd never mentioned it. He'd never so much as glanced in your direction whilst you sat on the porch of your own home, carefully observing his every move as though you would be able to learn everything there was to learn about him without ever having to ask a single question.

In fact, you'd never really said more than a couple of words to the man since he had become your neighbour. One half-assed greeting when he'd first taken up residence on the land beside you, and then nothing. Part of you knew that you should have made more of an effort. After all, you had friends in common, and that wasn't something you were all that used to. And by the looks of it, he wasn't exactly sought after either. Sure, you'd seen the Princess coming and going from time to time, but other than that he remained isolated, just as you had done since coming to Wakanda.

One evening, whilst you watched him make his way down to the edge of the water, something had clicked into place. Bucky was alone. You were alone. And neither of you deserved to spend the rest of your lives completely secluded from the rest of the world.

You were quick to get to your feet after that, grabbing a cardigan to shelter yourself from the late evening chill, and then you were headed in his direction. Some distant part of you wondered whether this would be a mistake. You were sure to embarrass yourself along the way, you always had done, but at the end of the day, who would Bucky even tell?

Your pace slowed as you approached him, clearing your throat slightly and watching as his head shot up to look at you, his brow furrowed slightly.

"Hello," you murmured softly, swallowing down the lump forming in your throat. "Again," you added, letting a small awkward chuckle slip out with the word.

Bucky looked a little confused but forced a half-smile for you. "Hi."

"I'm your neighbour," you told him, gesturing behind you at your house.

He nodded. "Yeah, we met before-"

"I remember," you confirmed softly, giving him a small shrug. "I was just coming down to see if I could join you." Bucky nodded again, shuffling over to make space for you on his perch. You quickly settled in, your eyes lingering over the reflection of the setting sun on the surface of the water. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

He hummed beside you. "Pretty as a picture," he agreed. "Makes me wonder how I never really noticed it before. It can't have always been this pretty or I would have paid it more attention, right?"

A soft chuckle slipped out of you. "I was always too busy to take the time and actually watch it. I mean, I'd seen it, but it was never like this. I had never tried to count the colours or study how it made the clouds get all glowy around the edges."

When you glanced at him from the side of your eyes, Bucky was smiling, his eyes still fixed on the sky. "How many colours are there?"

You shrugged slightly. "It changes depending on the day," you murmured. "I think I got to at least 12 different shades of pink one night," you pressed on.
