A/N - This chapter is based on the song 'Dreams' by the Cranberries. I absolutely adore this song and thought it would follow on from an earlier chapter, which can be found in this book ('Frozen'), really well, so here we are. I hope you all enjoy it.

"Tony?" you murmured, sitting up a little straighter at the desk he had set up for you in the lab, leaving the gadget you'd been disassembling for the last hour sitting untouched on the surface in front of you.

He hummed slightly, glancing up at you for a moment. "Yes, Sweetheart?"

You couldn't help the butterflies that took flight in your stomach at the nickname. God, he'd been calling you that for so long now that it made you feel silly to still be so affected by it, but it still sent you reeling every time you heard it.

You hesitated for a moment when you realised he was still waiting on your query, patiently smiling at you as your mouth opened and closed, and you searched for something to say. "I'm going to go and get a coffee," you finally uttered, mustering up a small smile for him. "Do you want anything whilst I'm up?"

Tony watched you with so much focus, he always had, but with a final glance down to the work in front of him, he dropped his tools to the desk and got to his feet. "I could use a break too," he told you, moving around his workspace to stand beside you. "Let's go get coffee," he confirmed, holding out his hand to pull you to your feet.

Ever since he'd first helped you with your nightmare, he'd become real touchy-feely. Not that you minded in the slightest. His hand in yours was grounding, it stopped you from getting completely lost in your head when you were in the common rooms of the facility. And at parties and corporate events, it kept you from getting swept away from him in the crowd, which was a duty he took very seriously.

After all, in spite of all of the sweet gestures and comfortable surroundings, you were still technically Tony's prisoner. Even if that wasn't entirely visible from the outside of your relationship.

Natasha had been one of the first to comment on your connection. Some throwaway remark about how co-dependent the two of you had become in such a short space of time. Tony needed you to keep from working himself to death, and you needed him to keep you from driving yourself completely mad with your own self-doubts.

So, you and Tony wandered down to the kitchen together, your hand tightly clasped in his as he led the way. It was pretty common for the two of you to end up ditching Bruce in the lab for hours at a time, just nattering away about anything and everything without actually realising how much time had passed.

Tony only released his hold on your hand to get to work at the coffee machine, pressing buttons to make your drink the way you liked it. He'd memorised your order quickly, and now it seemed that he knew it better than you did. You couldn't help but admire him as you hopped up onto the worktop, watching him with a sweet smile.

He really was very sweet with you. Everything he did was so genuine and kind and all of it was completely in your interest. Where you were concerned, you weren't sure he had a selfish bone in his body, and it was as if each gesture was an attempt to prove that to you.

And shit, he was so damn handsome; that perfect smile of his was enough to leave you a little breathless. God, you would stare at him forever if you were given the chance. An entire lifetime of him would be a flawless way to live.

"What are you thinking about, Sweetheart?" he hummed, causing you to blink wildly as you refocused on the room around you. You watched as his lips twitched into a half-smile when your attention fell fully on him.

"Nothing," you uttered, praying that it would be enough for him to drop the subject and let you move on with your day.

His eyes narrowed slightly at your answer, head tilting to the side. "Nothing, huh?" You nodded. "Must've been some really good 'nothing' to get you smiling so big." Your body tensed slightly. He'd noticed your mind wandering where it shouldn't have. You'd been thinking about him and you were so caught up in the mere idea of him that you'd been grinning like an absolute idiot without even realising it. Shit. "Come on, what were you thinking about?"

"Nothing-"

"Tell me," he interrupted with a bright smile, causing you to raise an eyebrow at him.

"Tony, it was nothing-"

"Tell me," he pressed again, his voice coming out all melodic and he moved a little closer, placing his hands on the counter on either side of you. "I'm making you coffee," he reminded you. "So I think I deserve to know your secrets," he added, causing a snort of laughter to fall from you.

"I don't have secrets," you told him, shrugging slightly as he leant a little closer, his eyes narrowing as he stared into yours as if he could read your mind if he looked hard enough.

"Come on, Baby, just tell me what was going on in that pretty little head of yours," he hummed, and suddenly your smile dropped. Sure, Tony loved pet names. He called your Sweetheart, and Darling, and God, he'd even called you Princess a couple of times. But never, in all the months that you'd known him, had he ever called you Baby. He swallowed as he saw the panic in your eyes, standing up a little straighter. "Sorry, that was a lot-"

You grabbed his shirt before he could move away from you, holding him in place. "Please don't go," you started, pulling him back into his original position. "I was thinking about you," you finally confessed. "I'm always thinking about you."

"Sweetheart-"

"My life had changed so much recently, but you're the only thing that's stayed the same. What if we ruin everything?"

Tony's tongue darted out to wet his bottom lip, his head tilting to the side as he studied your features. "But what if it's all of this and more? What if it's even better?"

You hesitated for a moment before giving a hesitant nod. "You have my heart and I trust you with it, so please don't hurt me," you murmured as his hand lifted from the counter to touch your cheek.

"You have my heart too, Sweetheart. You have done since the first day I met you." A small smile pulled at your lips as you leant forward, pressing your forehead to his. "I'm not going to hurt you, Baby. We'll take this as slow as you need, just as long as I get to be with you."
