Holding the gate open for her, we entered the greenhouse, making our way up the ladder as I quickly threw a blanket down on the floor that was already covered in pillows and turned the Christmas lights on. By the end, it looked pretty cozy and Clementine seemed to think so, too.

Clementine: So, what do we need to do?

I smiled slightly, sitting down on the blanket, leaning back into the pillows, the forest expanding in front of me.

Y/n: Oh, nothing. I did it all earlier. I just wanted to hang out.

She smirked, sitting down beside me, following my movements.

Clementine: You know, you could have just said that.

Y/n: Didn’t want to risk it.

She turned to look at me, making me turn red at the distance between us.

Clementine: But you wanted to hang out with me?

Y/n: Well, of course. You’re the interesting one in this place, well, maybe except AJ.

Clementine: Is that all?

Y/n: I suppose… You’re good company.

She scoffed, raising her eyebrows.

Clementine: You suppose? I'll have you know, I’m amazing company.

Y/n: Calm down, tangerine. Just kidding. You’re fantastic company.

She gave me a smile, looking back towards the forest and I followed her gaze, seeing the trees swaying in the breeze. The moon had risen over the treeline, glowing in the darkness, surrounded by twinkling stars.

Y/n: Right. Let’s play another game.

Clementine: Truth or Dare not enough for you?

Y/n: It’s hardly a game. It’s more of a ploy to embarrass people, so, no. It’s not enough for me.

She brought her knees to her chest, leaning her head on them, looking at me.

Clementine: So, what are we playing?

Y/n: 21 questions. You ask me one, and then I ask you one, until we get to 21.

Clementine: What is this? A sixth grade sleepover?

I raised my eyebrows, giving her a small smirk.

Y/n: I don’t know. Never got to that grade. Now, let’s play.

Clementine: Fine. What is your favourite color?

Y/n: Okay, we’re starting off easy.

Clementine: Just you wait.

Y/n: I’m shaking. But I guess, green.

Clementine nodded, taking in the information.

Y/n: Now, my turn. Are you more of a dog or a cat person?

Clementine: Used to like cats more, but Rosie has changed my mind.

Y/n: She has that effect on people.

Clementine: Right. What’s your biggest fear?

Y/n: Spiders.

The girl laughed out loud at my revelation and I hit her shoulder.

Y/n: Hey! They’re scary!

Clementine: You are living in an apocalypse, how are you scared of spiders? They’re tiny!

Y/n: Not all of them! And some of them are poisonous! So don’t come running to me when there’s a brown recluse spider creeping in your room.
