Chapter 21 - Flame V.S Water

Time for the fan-favorite Hashiras from the anime to face off.

Oyakata-sama: "Will you both use Breathing Styles or Swordsmanship?"

Giyuu: "Breathing Styles."

Kyojuro: "Right."

They both get a training katana each and readied stances.

Oyakata-sama: "Begin."

Giyuu immediately goes on the offensive as he dashes straight towards Kyojuro.

"Mizu no kokyū, ni no kata: Mizu Guruma."
(Water Breathing, Second Form: Water Wheel.)

Giyuu leaps and vertically spins forward in the air while releasing a flowing attack in a circular motion.

"Honō no kokyū, shi no kata: Sei En no Uneri!"
(Flame Breathing, Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation!)

Kyojuro swings his blade in a circular motion, defending himself from Giyuu's attack.

Without wasting any time, Kyojuro tries to initiate a counter-attack at Giyuu.

"Honō no kokyū, ni no kata: Nobori En Ten!"
(Flame Breathing, Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun!)

Kyojuro releases an arching slash attack upwards in attempt to hit Giyuu but he managed to leap backwards, just barely evading the attack.

Kyojuro: "Tomioka, I'm going to end this!"

Giyuu remained silent but didn't lower his guard.

"Honō no kokyū, go no kata: Enko!"
(Flame Breathing, Fifth Form: Flame Tiger!)

Kyojuro performs a series of powerful sword slashes that seemingly takes the form of a flaming tiger.

"Mizu no kokyū, jū ichi no kata: Nagi."
(Water Breathing: Eleventh Form: Dead Calm.)

Using his self-made move, Giyuu ceases all body movements and enters a state of complete tranquility, blocking all of Kyojuro's attacks with imperceptible speed.

Kyojuro: 'N-Nani?!'

For the first time in forever, Giyuu smiled due to him being able to execute his plan perfectly.

"Mizu no kokyū, jū no kata: Seisei Ruten."
(Water Breathing, Tenth Form: Constant Flux.)

Giyuu performs a continuous flowing attack which seemingly takes the form of a water dragon, smashing his blade into Kyojuro's as the Flame Hashira was sent back.

Kyojuro landed safely a few meters behind and smiled.

However, he didn't notice that something was wrong. He looked down and gasped in surprise.

Kyojuro: 'M-My katana?!'

His katana was roughly about 10 meters away from him.

Child 2: "Tomioka Giyuu wins by knocking Rengoku Kyojuro's blade from his hand."

Kyojuro: "Tomioka, that was amazing!" he praised and Giyuu smiled back.

Oyakata-sama: "Now, time for the next battle, Muichiro against Sanemi."

A/N: Tell me in the comments if you want me to keep using the japanese pronunciation for the breathing styles. Also i wont be doing Gyomei vs Tengen and Mitsuri vs Shinobu, ill just put the results cuz im too lazy to do two more fights just for the first round.
