Eris

I'm not sure at what point I had crossed over- admittedly reality had been all too fuzzy when I was struck by lightning.

I had seen her- in what had felt terribly and beautifully real- turning into pure light, streaking across the field faster than I could even blink. My light at the end of the tunnel.

I knew then I would die. I knew then that my next breaths would be some of my lasts. I knew I'd be leaving this life.

I had been surprised by the gratitude I felt.

From a young age, I knew I had been dealt a shitty hand. I never had anyone. I never had a purpose beyond what I would one day inherit. And if I'm honest, I didn't have a whole lot I wanted to live for besides obligation.

But in this past year...

I had everything.

She had given me everything.

And sure, as I blink into nothing, I would mourn the life I never got to finish with her. I would regret leaving her behind on her own. I would miss my everything.

But I couldn't help but be grateful for the time we had. For my wife. My mate. My best friend.

My everything.

My Nephele.
