"That was a good kick," I say as Robby and I watch the video footage from the All Valley.

"Thanks," he responds.

"Make sure you keep your hands up though,"

"Good catch,"

"Where did you learn that one?"

"I just watched you," he shrugs. Wait what?

"Thanks, it won me the match," he adds. He learned a match winning move from me? Huh...

"I- wow, nice," I reply, a little flustered. What am I supposed to say to that? That's worse than when people tell me they look up to me. At least then I can say thank you or something. Here? I don't know?!

"That was a good point,"

"Thanks. Honestly, I'm not used to scoring with them. Kicks are so much easier for me. Being 70% leg has its benefits when you can score from over a yard away," I say, keeping my eyes on Miguel and I's fight.

"I didn't know you could do stuff like that," he says as we watch as I flip over Miguel.

"I've pulled it off successfully and gracefully a grand total of three times in my life- once while practicing, once for musical forms in competition, and there," I say, laughing a little.

"Well it was cool as hell, and you did Mr LaRusso's move too,"

"I didn't mean to. I think his spirit possessed me. That, or the spirit of me in fifth grade feeling like the world's biggest badass when I could actually do it well," The two of us laugh.

"Yeah, I think that's enough of that," I say, taking my phone out of our hands as it gets to the part where Miguel finally beat me. I don't really feel like reliving my loss... I use the wall to help myself up. I'm still in the brace, but I think it's getting better. Robby has ditched the sling. I wish I could do the same, but I just need more time. Robby stands up too and we start walking into the dojo.

"One question: what is a musical form?"

"We do not have the time to dive into that,"

"Hey you two," Mr LaRusso says as we walk in.

"Hey," Robby says back.

I settle for a friendly wave. Mr LaRusso messes around with a shelf that needs replacing. A box of various things sits at all of our feet. Ooo... are those gonna be displayed in here? Because that would be so cool. Robby picks up a little drum. I've seen things like that. I think I vaguely remember using one in music class in elementary school.

"Careful, that drum saved my life," Mr LaRusso says. Oh shit? I think my heart would stop if I were in Robby's position.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to touch it,"

"Nah, it's just a toy," Mr LaRusso reassures, "then again, not everything in Miyagi-Do is always as it seems."

"I guess that applies to its students too," I say, looking off at no point in particular. It's kind of true. Robby is a former juvenile delinquent, and I'm just your average quiet nerd. Mr LaRusso looks at me but I don't look back.

"Huh.. I guess so,"

Mr LaRusso tells us about Mr Miyagi's Medal of Honor. I can't tear my eyes off of it. I guess I just had this image of Mr Miyagi being so serene and wise, but still able to kick your ass, kind of like... I don't know.. but I guess I never ever saw him fighting in a war...

"What are these?" Robby asks, wandering off. Wait so we're just gonna gloss over this? I feel like we could talk more about this? I don't want to ask... I don't- yeah...
